Winter Train Vacation

Does anyone have any suggestions on winter train vacations? We would like to do something fairly inexpensive, but are looking forward to seeing some winter/mountainous terrain.

We did the snowtrain from the Soo to Hearst a few years back. Its where you drive your sled onto a train car and unload in Hearst and ride back to the Soo the route we took was about 1100 miles.Bring food and beverages on the train there is a Deli close by the train depot. And was fairly cheap can't remeber the exact amount.I recommend doing it once cause its a long train ride up to Hearst cause it doen't run too fast and makes several short stops.

There is a dining car on the train. The prices are fair to the public considering were your at. Kids get bored fast. If the train stops at Hawk Junction long enough to eat. Get the Teddy Bear burger and bring your camera. It is great!

The train to Hearst is great, but why not just take the trail by sled. That is some of the best trail ever to be ridden!!

If you eat your Wheaties, you might even beat the train...
