Created by NOAA's Climate Prediction Center, the latest outlook anticipates warmer-than-average temperatures for much of the contiguous U.S., although southern states will most likely experience a drier and warmer winter than usual. Conditions in northern states are expected to be cooler and wetter.

Our local forecaster says any precipitation forecast 15 plus days out has zero science behind it. I rarely believe anything more than 5 days out. But, it doesn't hurt to dream.

entertainment purposes only to me but as jr37 stated..."doesn't hurt to dream" as long as there is snow in the greater north woods this year I'll be happy, given up on snow down here during winter. Hoping it will be a banner year for all of the Northwoods this year.

Miss John’s forecasts and graphics I knew pretty much what to expect from his forecasts when I lived up north. His snow depth forecast amounts usually were right on with system snow combined with backside les for Vilas.

It wouldn't take much to improve on the snow totals the last two years in our area. I would be happy with an "average" snowfall year.

Like a lot of you have said, the predictions seem pretty inconclusive. Maybe this is the most accurate map after all.

The way I view forecasts is simple. Wake up in the morning and look out of the cabin windows. If there are dark skies/clouds to the west and north and it is below 32 degrees, probably going to snow. As for how much, a lot would be nice but even a little is better than nothing. To get more exact, call my daughter who lives 30 miles north and west of me in the U.P. and ask her what's going on in Bessemer.
