Looks like Duluth and west was hit pretty hard. Has anyone been out? Hoping to get the first ride under my belt this week.

Thanks,

Following, was going to ditch ride 65 on Saturday because it should be dry and have no standing corn. Have about a foot up near St. Francis.

I swear there is like 4 MN guys on this website......guess we didn't have any part in inventing the sport or anything.

As of today in Tower MN we have around 10-15 inches on the ground. Grooming has not started yet because of the wet swamps. There are a few sled tracks on the trails and I see more tracks on the trails every day. I went out for a little ride by myself but didn’t want to get stuck alone in a swamp. There are sled tracks on the lake and I did see a risk taker driving a car out from the Fortune Bay Casino this afternoon. I think as we get to the end of the week more reports will be coming in.

yep give things another week to set up!looks cold next week and give guys a chance to get out and straighten trails out!

Mille Lacs north probably was able to sustain the warmer temps the past couple days. Down in the cities we lost a pretty good amount of snow. Have to pray that Monday drops of few inches to complement the single digit cold!

All the rail grades out of Moose Lake have been groomed, the other trails are very wet and the clubs are doing what they can, The deep freeze this week should help. 5" fresh snow today so far!

Rode from Sturgeon Lake up to Carlton on Saturday. Nice to get out and put some miles on the new sled. Grades were flat and fast!! Side trails were ungroomed, but that was to be expected. Overall a good day, looking forward to a great season!

I live in Duluth and we're getting some more snow today. Maybe 5-6" so far overnight/this morning. I was out early this morning and it looked like trails 229 and 196 in the western part of the city (right near Interstate 35) have been groomed and, to me, they looked pretty good. Not sure if this helps.

Must have passed you guys running the Munger and Soo on Saturday - I'd had enough grade running by 3:00 and headed home. Nice to scratch the itch!

Anyone else see the DNR out riding, checking stickers?

I was a red Viper with 3 Poo's. Didn't run into any DNR but turned around in the state park because we thought that the special hunt closed the trail down. Learned that the trail was open later, but I had enough grade riding especially with the non-existent windshield on the Viper.

Just wait until its actually cold - grandpa windshields rule!

The DNR guy was actually riding, coming into Moose Lake from the south as I was headed back to Willow River.

Yea, I ordered a taller one today. I'm a small guy, but I felt like I was going to get blown off the sled riding at 70 mph.

The snow conditions around Duluth are unreal. The plow banks are getting very tall and the snow keeps falling. We have picked up another 6" or so today. The trails are early season with many wet spots and with the amount of traffic over the weekend, are in fair to poor condition. That being said, if you are looking to get break-in miles or just get out and shake off the rust, I wouldn't wait. Duluth without question has the best snow on the ground and it gets thinner as you get out of town but all areas up here have rideable snow. That being said, you could easily head up the NSST to Silver Bay/Finland or up to the Pequaywan Inn for a great days ride.

Keep your eye on www.drifttoppers.com they have a trail conditions update going.

I thought this was a pretty good depiction of the snow in Duluth

Bad things about Minnesota—

To cold-- 50 mph speed limit-- bad signage--to many lakes and rivers-- not enough bars--not enough gas stations--if you breakdown there will not be anybody to come by and help--we only groom a couple of times per week--expensive trail permits--Vikings-- nothing good in MN, no need to waste your time coming
