Many are affiliated, when I stay overnight in Houghton I notice the same newscasters from Green Bay do the U.P. news, I think it is CBS.
I usually turn the channel to see the U.P. talent, there is a special newscaster I like.

I was in ER this weekend and it looked like the track area was packed. I'm not into racing so I don't know how it compares to other years. I think I saw that same newscast. When we were out we saw busy restaurants so I'm not sure what they were talking about.
Some people are all doom and gloom. Had a great time out with my kids and their grandpa. My kids and 10, 7 and 7 and loved being out. We had to keep the rides short cause of the cold. We ride on a small lake and some trails owned by the lake association.

It was pleasingly packed, not like the 90's but very well attended, more than in the past 6 years. With the new owners, expect more good things in the future. It was really amazing what they accomplished in only 75+ days.
Chuck Russ says other venues could be possible at race track. Maybe some good summer concerts would appeal?
I think the late start to the riding season may have kept some potential race fans out on the trails. I took a ride up there in the car on Saturday. Tons of sleds along Hwy 32. The parking lots in Mountain and Lakewood were packed. As far as I could tell the trails looked great in that area. Snow seemed to thin some as I headed west on 8.

Yup Went through that hy 32 area myself between 9-10....packed with trailers. Most seemed to have stayed south....Argonne wasn't too busy at all around 5pm when we stopped.
Great to hear ER Derby is back moving forward in a positive way.
Don't know how many of you were aware but they live streamed the races on Facebook this year. I thought it was an awesome addition! And, for their first go at it, it was done very well (camera work, announcers, live stats, etc). Watching the races in a warm living room was awesome!
At La Verne & Gail's Diner (Suring) right in that time frame.
