Just got back from my first "local" ride of the year.
Hopefully will get to go again tomorrow before the snow is gone
by the end of the week.

So,...
I crack open a nice Ice Cold beverage, and rest my old aching bones
down in the chair (only half the trails were groomed,.. so I am feeling
muscles I forgot I had),...and figured I'll do my daily internet thing,..
which includes my visit to my good friend John's site.

WOW!
Some of the posts leave me speechless.
I don't know HOW I WOULD REACT if some of the stuff I read
constantly was happing to ME.
I am now on the "wrong" side of 50 and have been snowmobiling since
my Dad sat me in front of him on a '67 Fox Trac,...'69 Polaris Mustang,...
ect.,...... The only reason I am "IN" to sledding is because my folks were
Die Hards. The BEST "FAMILY" adventure EVER!
In fact,... riding some of those "ungroomed" trails today,.... brought me
back to those times. Thank God I have a New comfortable 1200 4-stroke
with all the goodies,.... to make my old body still enjoy the sport.
But if I was "STARTING" sledding today,... with all the different
personalities I am reading about?
I would NEVER be sledding.
YIKES!
I have been part of All groups of riders in my days.
I guess I am VERY glad my folks made me go to safety classes,...
and preached "defensive" driving. I too have had my Very close
calls with Bozo drivers. Thank God I have lived through enough of them
to still be riding today.
Man,... I tell ya what,... If someone EVER tapped the back of my flap
going down the trail. You would NOT be riding Today!
Threat? No,... FACT.
Thank God I use my mirrors. And can ride with the "Pack"
Bla, Bla, Bla,.... I won't vent about this much anymore because I believe
I am not a driver that would have this situation happen to me.
But People,....PLEASE,....
Take a deep breath before ya get pizzed off enough to have some of
these instances happen.
I have NEVER seen a season on this BOARD where so MUCH Hatred,...
and just down right serious agressive behavior existed.
WOW!
Almost makes ya want to get OUT of the sport?
Is it because of the times?
The technology-want-it-now/Gotta have-it-now/Have-no-time-to wait/Satisfy-me-NOW society we live in???
I-pods cranking/texting while driving/85mph-one-handed-hand-signaling/
left-side-of-trail-driving/How-fast-can-I-take-this-corner-sliding,....
WOW!
Step Away From The Spiked Energy Drink,....
Relax.
Be Carfeful.
Be Smart
Think * Snow!
Keep Our Love For Sledding ALIVE!

note:(sorry, just had to open my mouth and let all the small words come
out. Thanks for the time.)

Right on bigvin! The personalities that have been coming out around here lately really make me worry about where this sport is going. All of the negativity and hate around here lately is kind of overwelming.

Bigvin, you are the definition of an articulate person. You know, I think you could have a career in radio.

Maybe some year, we'll get out for a ride. Who knows, maybe someday I'll grace the ride-in with my presence.

I think it really all stems from the terrible season. We got snow in sporadic and rare instances (or so it seemed) which put everyone and their mothers in the same areas riding. I don't think any type of traffic congestion works with snowmobiling, too many different riding styles, skill levels, and riding group sizes to make it all work without conflict.

Well said bigvin! I too am tired of the complaining and venting threads. Let's talk about the good times we have had, and the good times we look forward to having on snowmobiles. After a good ride I still have a hard time going to sleep at night, because the ride from the day keeps rolling through my head like a video on Youtube! That is the feeling that keeps us coming back for more!

Thank God I wasn't taking a gulp of coffee when I read that!
I almost forgot about those days brother!
That was some fun stuff!
:)

ScottyKing: Gonna head out for ONE more in a bit. Already 37 out,
but the Groomer went by! YAHOOOOO!

Thanks Skiroule! The radio gig was a hoot for them 2 years. Just wished
it "paid". Hope you can make it to a ride in someday! It is like a big old
family reunion!

Just be happy, enjoy life and do an honest days work. Never know what tomorrow holds, everyday is a gift.

Thanks for your thoughts BigVin.

Need a "write only" thread here?

Maybe we need a "write only" thread on this forum, where all the whiners can get it all out of their system, bitch and complain to their hearts content, but no-one can read their ravings!

(And thanks to vin for a 'nuther great post!)

BigVin you put into words what I wanted to say and couldn't put onto the correct wording. I used to say snowmobilers were some of the best people on earth, but after setting here and reading the posts this winter I'm starting to wonder if I really want to be around them anymore. dan

dan, don't give up hope! Try to think of the gas half full - or how bout 95% full, 5% sludge!?

Every JD'er I've met, I've liked. I like SO MANY of the ones I haven't even met yet. I refuse to let the crappy few ruin my opinion! :)

My resolve is to not take the bait, not get dragged down by mean/idiotic comments and just pretend those posts don't exist. You all can remind me when I fall off the wagon!
