Viper. Yamaha has better warranty and warranties items easier. Better clutches, cooler temps and better belt life. Whatever dealer gives you the best service trumps all. IMO

I will admit that Yamaha's extended warranty is better. A lot better. If you're not looking at extended warranties than I'd say go with which ever color you prefer. Engine braking on the Viper/7000 is done through the EFI system so you shouldn't notice a difference there. Last year when we rode the prototypes the Vipers were much faster...they both seem pretty equal now. And as far as a the Vector goes, that motor is spot on, smooth, good power and fuel economy and is almost impossible to stop.

Good luck and happy sled shopping!

I wound up ordering two Vipers, L-TX DX, one for each of us. My wife was on a Rush LX, and I had an Adventure. She liked my longer track better than hers so we bought the 137's. Looking forward to no two stroke smoke, lol. Did you run premium or regular gas? I'm assuming the ethanol doesn't affect the four stroke like it does the two stroke, although I may be wrong on that one. Also looking forward to better gas mileage as my poos got maybe 12 on a good day normally 10 to 11. When you're filling two sleds, mileage means a lot. Now I have about 9 months to read the brochure and wait......

How do these ride, handle, etc. compared to the Cat 800? One of the guys I with got a 14 800, and it's a great sled. I like the idea of this chassis with the Yamaha 4 stroke, but not sure how much the extra weight makes any difference.

I don't think the extra weight is much. I was told by a dealer the 7000 XF XLR was only 5 lbs more than my Adventure. I would think the Viper would be the same as the Cat for weight, or close to it. I figure if I can drop 20 lbs by next season, I'll be ahead of the game, lol.

Did you see much difference in performance between reg and prem?

That is true - I definitely have 20 lbs or probably more like 30 I can lose, that would make the difference up!

well when it was on prem it wasn't even broke in yet and since then its always been on reg so i don't know.the motor didn't get as strong as it is now until i got to 1500-2000 miles and some nytro guys told me it gets even stronger after 5000 miles breakin on these is kind of like a big diesel truck. as far as heavy weight u don't even feel it on this cat chassis i never hit 100 on it this year do to trail conditions but did hit 95 i have the long track and last week could only get 91 on rail bed but it was 40 degree out and snow was wet and loose
