I put scratchers on my nytro xtx right from the dealer and run with them down every ride, have 1800mi. on it and the hyfax look like new, scratchers are cheap insurance and a lot easier to replace when they get worn down.

Check the wheels I have a 08 Vector all my wheels have been changed with the new YAMAHA wheels with bearings. Do not use Polaris wheels you have to do machine work on them. They also tend to break the inside wheels. My 2010 vector has excel wheels 135.8 mm they fit right on. They do have the inside breakage problem.

this what i have done to a rage and vector ltx with excellent results....install pioneer wheel lowering kit, small wheel kit at the rail bend and narrower 'old' style hyfax. pioneers kit are 2-bolt machined mounts that are much stronger than stock, very nice pieces and easy to install. the narrower slides seem to allow more snow up in the skid instead of closing off the window. i have not noticed any loss of speed but durability is more important to me anyways. with this set up slides last a very long time for me with no worries. your bearings are not replaceable so remove the wheels each year, pick out the seals, clean and repack with mobil 1 grease. i have never had a bearing failure on either sled in 18000 combined miles. as others said, run track on the loose side. while you're at it, add a set of pilot skis and 6" shaper bars to remove the darting and twitchiness. you'll think you're riding a whole different sled!
