Actually look at the stats WD, Defense: Atlanta yards per game, 8th from bottom, GB 11th; Points per game, ATL 6th from bottom, GB 12th. Pass yards allowed, GB 2nd worst, ATL 5th. (reg seasons stats) It's a shootout folks, just like it was on Oct. 30th.

Not just looking at stats watching them both play in the playoff series. Atlanta seems to be able to get a better d rush on the QB and has better Rbs than GB. Ryan right there with Rogers but no team like GB and Rogers during the QB scramble. Makes Fran Tarkington proud....he took the league by storm many years ago could not deal with Fran running around back there. lol The Rogers scramble factor is huge in the 2nd half when the big guys are bushed & Gb goes to the hurry up. Only way to beat Rogers is to play keep away football and grind it out and Atlanta might be able to do that with dink and dunk and their good Rbs & then go deep and score and do it all over again. Big IF? lol

Atlanta is favored by 4 points according to Las Vegas. Dallas was favored by 4.5. Not that it matters but just say'n.

I get the grind it out theory, I actually thought Dallas could do that all day with Zeke, but didn't work out that way did it? And that's the best rush offense in NFL, give or take.
Atlanta pass rush might be good, but the X-factor is GB best pass blocking O-line in football. It's a shootout - over/under at 61.5 and going up. I hate GB's defense, and I bleed green/gold. Rodgers best QB in football - Matty ice never won sheet.

The way to beat Rodgers is the same way you beat Brady. Or any QB. Put him on his back. Dallas didn't do that and they still almost won with a rookie QB. Atlanta has some pass rushers. GB is a one man team. It makes for some entertaining football when he runs around and no holding penalties are ever called but it is good for ratings.

get your popcorn it's gonna be a barn burner.
don't see Rodgers being denied against the Falcons. He's on a mission. We finally beat the Giants (which we never could) beat the #1 seed in their house, the falcons are merely a bump in the road to bringing back the trophy. Take the over and the points. Brady vs Rodgers lets get it on. WHooo hoooo,,,,,

Guess I'll get things started. A lot of "experts" are predicting a deep run in the playoffs for this year's Packers. But that's a long way off and I for one will enjoy the journey between the first game to the last. I'm hoping we can use this thread for thoughts along the way for this season. There's also a lot of Bear's fans lurking and that's OK as long as we keep it civil. And if we let the Bears in then we have to include the Vikings and Lions too. So, be nice and by the end of the season we can hope to be riding in the deep snows of the NFC North. With that said, I found the following item of interest on Channel 2's web site, a neat story indeed.

GREEN BAY, Wis. (WBAY) – An historic piece of the Frozen Tundra is on display at the Green Bay Packers Hall of Fame at Lambeau Field.

The team has received a donation of a section of the goal post from the 1967 NFL Championship between the Packers and the Dallas Cowboys. Of course, that’s much better known as the Ice Bowl.

Here’s the story of the goal post, via the Green Bay Packers:

“The five foot-long section of goal post was donated by Stew Mills and the Mills family, who had received it from the James and Barbara Smith family. Both families attended the Ice Bowl, and following the victory that was sealed with Bart Starr’s quarterback sneak, the Smiths found themselves on the playing field taking down the goal post with a group of several strangers, all of whom wished to lay claim to the post’s lower section.

The group loaded their section into the Smith family van and drove to a construction company’s shop operated by one of the members of the group. They cut the goal post section into pieces, dividing the pieces amongst the group.

The Smith family’s section remained in their home in the Town of Center until 1990, when James Smith gave it as a gift to the Stew and Henry Mills families. The goal post was displayed at the Mills Fleet Farm Appleton office in the years since then, and the Mills family is proud to donate the unique artifact to the Packers Hall of Fame for fans to enjoy.”

Fans can view the goal post at the Ice Bowl Theater on the second floor of the Hall of Fame.

GREAT THREAD STARTER!!

No idea who wins this one but here's a few random thoughts;

Jordy's gonna play...with two cracked ribs. Really? Anyone who has had this condition knows it's hard just to get out of bed let alone have the "big uglies" pounding on you for 60 minutes. So let's give the farm boy credit for trying.

Watch the stands if Green Bay goes up by two scores. Atlanta fans will be heading for the exits early whereby Packer faithful would sit through a tornado to see a comeback at Lambeau.

I think the winning quarterback today will be named the league MVP.

Back in August a lot of people predicted Green Bay would be where they're at today. They started the season strong, hit the slump, and now have won 8 straight. A lot of momentum in favor of the Packers.

Again, I have no idea who wins. Looks like a lot of parity so that would favor a close game and if both teams turn on the gas I could see both teams exceeding 80 points. Should be a good one so let's Go Packers!!

Can you say smoked????? Even the almighty Rodgers can't save them from a non existent defense.

Well, that one was over early wasn't it? Still, going to the Conference Championship the glass is half full.

A couple of takeaways to kick around during the off season...Aikman talked about this some, G.B. has been one of, if not the most injured team for years. This year we simply ran out of DB's, you can't win games like this with that talent level. Even more so the Packers have been drafting for defense for years and they just don't have the guys that impact like 1's and 2's should make i.e. Randall, Rollins, Datone Jones, Perry, etc. They're all good players but not great, Clinton-Dix being the exception. Maybe it's the coaching that needs to improve, I don't know but there should be some people well north of my pay grade asking the same questions. Let's hope they find some answers in the coming months.

One last thing and then I'm gonna stop. Some of us may remember the Packers of the 70's and 80's. Those teams never sniffed a playoff game let alone a championship. I'm glad for the season we had despite a disappointing finish. Now for crysakes can somebody MAKE IT SNOW ! !

That defensive coordinator needs to be gone tomorrow. The defense is absolutely awful and embarrassed the team today. The game has passed the old guy by. There's a reason nobody has hired him to be their coach anymore.
