I'm kinda pumped to watch the Dallas running game and Dallas oline (easily the best in the NFL) against the packers run defense (apparently the best so far this year in the NFL)

If it was in Dallas I'd say we are screwed. Luckily it's in GB.

It almost seems that Rodgers threw bad balls when he has to much time. Maybe he's not used to that....haha. He seems better out of the pocket.

When protection holds up like that Coach M has to teach receivers to break off patterns run to open areas....Looked to me the game plan did not offer receivers that option. Coach prolly didn't expect that amount of time but will adapt for next time.

Guess I'll get things started. A lot of "experts" are predicting a deep run in the playoffs for this year's Packers. But that's a long way off and I for one will enjoy the journey between the first game to the last. I'm hoping we can use this thread for thoughts along the way for this season. There's also a lot of Bear's fans lurking and that's OK as long as we keep it civil. And if we let the Bears in then we have to include the Vikings and Lions too. So, be nice and by the end of the season we can hope to be riding in the deep snows of the NFC North. With that said, I found the following item of interest on Channel 2's web site, a neat story indeed.

GREEN BAY, Wis. (WBAY) – An historic piece of the Frozen Tundra is on display at the Green Bay Packers Hall of Fame at Lambeau Field.

The team has received a donation of a section of the goal post from the 1967 NFL Championship between the Packers and the Dallas Cowboys. Of course, that’s much better known as the Ice Bowl.

Here’s the story of the goal post, via the Green Bay Packers:

“The five foot-long section of goal post was donated by Stew Mills and the Mills family, who had received it from the James and Barbara Smith family. Both families attended the Ice Bowl, and following the victory that was sealed with Bart Starr’s quarterback sneak, the Smiths found themselves on the playing field taking down the goal post with a group of several strangers, all of whom wished to lay claim to the post’s lower section.

The group loaded their section into the Smith family van and drove to a construction company’s shop operated by one of the members of the group. They cut the goal post section into pieces, dividing the pieces amongst the group.

The Smith family’s section remained in their home in the Town of Center until 1990, when James Smith gave it as a gift to the Stew and Henry Mills families. The goal post was displayed at the Mills Fleet Farm Appleton office in the years since then, and the Mills family is proud to donate the unique artifact to the Packers Hall of Fame for fans to enjoy.”

Fans can view the goal post at the Ice Bowl Theater on the second floor of the Hall of Fame.

a chopped up goal post is a featured attraction at Packer Hall of Fame....Packer fans are nuts but ya gotta love em-I always wish the Pack the very best in the play offs IF the vikings are out- until then.....no love!
thanks for starting the thread Gary! I really feared Rogers was going to steal another one from the Vikings in week two but the purple held and have looked great ever since (5-0 )

Can we please get a new punter already!.. This guy we have is terrible...he would lose a Punt, Pass & Kick contest in any age division!

Crosby for MVP I guess. I'm Packer fan but think it's hilarious how everyone thought they were gonna be SO great. Plenty of talent time to live up to it.

Not a fan of the cowboys or their owner but on Sunday they were the better team.

Geez, I've got a dog that can catch better than some of our receivers. And the guy throwing it better keep his "day job". Oh, wait.....

Agree with gary_in_neenah, the better team won yesterday. Dallas offensive line really took over that game. Seems teams have figured out a better way to play Rodgers and its been working well. So far, it really looks like the Vikes are taking over this division, not that the Bears or Lions really pose a threat to anyone but themselves.

Same old predictable game plan. Everybody knows what is coming. Now Lacy wants to jump over people. He won't last much longer. 270 lbs coming down on a bad wheel is not a formula for long term success. The backup defensive backfield was destroyed by a rookie QB. No rythm to the offense. A bears win is not beyond the realm of possibility.

Just saw the early line on Thursday night's game, Packers over the Bears by 9 points....

I don't think so, not if they play like they did on Sunday.

they won't cover.
it won't be so devastating this year when they get bounced out of the playoffs with my expectations so low. I don't know who's playing QB for us but it isn't the guy the last 9 years. he missed so many guys and even the ones he did complete were at their feet behind them, nothing on the run where a receiver could get some yardage. to think he ranks 32nd in pass completion % and a year and half ago he had the highest in the history of the NFL is bewildering to say the least.

Hoyer has thrown for 300 yards the last 3 games. Against 3rd string safeties he should do well on thursday.

Bears are one of those teams that show us that statistics can be misleading. Hoyer will probably statistically have a good game on Thursday and still only score 14 or so points. Pack defense is really banged up, like a lot of teams, so their definitely vulnerable. But, good thing is their playing the Bears who are really good at being bad and they will find a way to lose the game.

Fox has done a good job getting the Bears to play well with their season over BUT at some point their energy could collapse & be blown out. If Pack scores big in first half then what? This could be embarassing for Bears. Injured to the max no star rookie to break out and dominate...wait til next year mode.

Pack will be ticked off about last weeks game. They will jump out to a 28-0 lead around halftime.
Then McCarthy will lay down and call clock killing plays that force the pack to punt and Hoyer will light it up. Look for the final score to be 31-28, with the Pack barely squeaking out the win.

Or poop could really hit the fan and Bears beat pack.

Yes, I know I'm a McCarthy fanboy that just ripped on his play calling.
If Rodgers continues to stink, pull him out and let him think about his suckyness.

Oh and pack traded for Knile Davis.

This game is make or break for this franchise going forward.
If they can't win handily over a dispirited 1-5 talentless arch rival with Hoyer as a QB and Rodgers looks as awful as he has then some whole sale changes need to be made. Not saying I have the answers but it will start with Mc Carthy. He's needs to get innovative and creative. His play calling is bland everyone sees it. Rodgers need to become the Rodgers of old. Bad QB play gets coach's fired all the time. Maybe Rodgers isn't coachable anymore, I don't know, but if he don't improve McCarthy will be gone. We're at DEFCON1 right now Packer fans.

I think you nailed it with the uncoachable thing. Or at least uncoachable by McCarthy. At this point it seems Rodgers would rather do TV ads than play meaningful football. Or else he is just wearing out. Not everybody can be Tom Brady and play at a superhuman level at the age of 39. With all the missing pieces tonight the Bears have a real chance to win. They have been in some close games but they have always found ways to lose. With no running game the Bears will be able to rush Rodgers all night. If the Pack does lose they will blame all the injuries and McCarthy and Rodgers will not be held responsible.

I agree, short week in GB should be a for sure packer win....

But GO BEARS!

Come on guys this is the Bears & Packers. No way has the Pack slipped below the Bears. Both teams riddled by injuries...so what ....next player up and play the game.

thing is you hear rumblings about him being uncoachable. how he holds grudges forever for the silliest of reasons. people have said he thinks he's the smartest guy in the room. basically rumor is his poop don't stink. That still doesn't explain how he is constantly missing guys wide open. I go back to that pass to cobb in the endzone that sailed 5 feet over his head. a high school QB could of completed it. to me that has nothing to do with coaching. it just not being accurate. for a guy that all he knew was accuracy it is startling. we'll see maybe he'll light these chumps up for 400 yards and we'll be talking SB again. :)
