Meant to put this in the journal tonight and just plum forgot.

So the whole Dee clan is in the truck headed down Houghton-way this morning to do some shopping. It's really ugly out, raining, foggy, temp 36. Anyway, Gracie notices the fog and and says she wonders what makes fog. So her and Nora are having a little discussion about the fog and Nora asks Gracie if she know's what makes fog. Gracie says she doesn't, so she asks Nora if she knows what makes fog. Nora replys, nope, I wonder who might know? Nora asks Gracie if she knows anyone that might know and Gracie says: No. So then Nora asks Gracie if daddy might know, to which Gracie replies..."Hey yea... Hey Dad, do you know anyone that knows what makes fog?"!!! Just about drove off into the ditch we were all laughing so hard.

John, too FUNNY!!
My girls (10 & 9 now) still think I build houses, nope! Just a heating guy!!
Just remember you are her rock and she doesn't even care what you do for a living. I think the only jobs kids really associate with are teachers because they interact daily with them. The guy who "predicts" weather patterns is important later on in life once you own your own sled and need to take time off from work and pay to go NORTH to enjoy this passion we do!
BTW--How does the snow look for the end of January at Dave and Lori's??? ;)

I may have even posted this here years ago, but long ago when I was in the Army stationed out in WA state Ft Lewis, it snowed one evening. Not very common out there, but there was about 3" on the ground. At the time my daughter was 3, she was the first one up, stood on the bed, looked out the window, and said "Dad, Mt Rainier Sneezed". She had never seen snow except when we would drive up to Mt Rainier. I will never forget that morning as long as I live. My daughter is now 29 and I remind her of this probably too much. Now with the grandsons growing up in MN, they laugh at their mom when I tell the story. They can not figure how anyone would not know where snow came from.

This sure brought back a good memory. When one of my kids was little, he thought fog was a cloud that fell out of the sky. Another one of my kids was only a few years old when he saw a convertible with the top down and said "look mom, there's a car without its hat on." It's amazing how the mind of a child works.
AND THOSE ARE THE GOOD OLE DAYS--WONDERFUL MEMORIES

... so what makes fog?

Dunno, I haven't found anyone that can explain it to me and haven't gotten to that chapter in my text book yet!

Actually, the air is either cooled to a point where it becomes saturated and the water vapor starts to condense out into small water droplets, or you add enough moisture to the air to make it saturated. Fog is basically a cloud on the ground and if you have every flown over fog, it looks just like you are flying above the clouds.
