Saw an 18 ZR 200 for sale at a decent price but wondering if anyone has any experience on them or thoughts on the size of them. I have 9 year old twins and a 12 year old. I'm assuming my 12 year old is too big for one - he can handle a full size sled decently (family has a 900 doo with the eco option that keeps the speed in check) but wondering how the 200 would be for the other two. The 9 year olds did well on a 120 last year that we have access to but I can't see that working out for much more than another year. Looks like they have a Yamaha generator motor, so I'd assume it's reliable. We get up to the northwoods once or twice a year, and I'm trying to figure out the next sled for them. I'd guess it's something that would hold its value fairly well so we could get something back out of it once they outgrow it.

Find a real nice older arctic cat 370Z or an older indy. They would only use a 200 for about a year or two and then they'd outgrow that too. We jumped ours from the 120s to the 370 no problem. Our girls were on 800s at 14. Just teach them to respect what they are on. I've been offered more for the 370Z then I paid for it, but my current 14 year old daughter doesn't have the natural ability or responsibility that her other 4 siblings have. Until she grows up mentally she'll be on that sled. I had fun getting my hands on a smaller older sled. As soon as they were listed they were sold.

I have a ZR 200 and sno scoots and a few sno sports at our cabin and you cant go wrong with any of them, Just get two so the kids can race! you wont lose much on resale they all hold there value very well! trust me your kids will have a blast with two of them!

My older kid has always been big for his size and he started handling the full size sled fine 2 winters ago when he has 10. The eco option and throttle system on the doo ace's is a great option for kids. Finding another one of those would be too much $ though. The 9 year olds are more smaller sized (boy and girl). My girl who's 9 complains about the throttle pull on the 120 after a while - might be better this year as she's grown a lot. My 9 year boy is the one I'm concerned with. Anytime he drives anything he seems to view the throttle as an on/off switch...
The 340 might be a good idea for something that would last a while. I had a Bravo growing up which worked out great. Wish we would have held onto it. We don't get up there too much with them but ride all day when we do.

Have 3 boys, started them on ZR120 when 3 years old, moved to Sno Scoot then to a Z370 (which is now a ice fishing sled) and then to a Sno-Pro 500, boys all grown up now riding Riot 8000's

Forgot to mention, we also have an early 80's Yamaha 340 up there too. A neighbor gave it to us last year and we couldn't get it to run right - it kept flooding. It sat for years so I assume that was the cause. We're going to rebuild the carb this fall and see if we can get it going. Still I'd like to get something a bit newer.

It was an indy 340. They made it from 99 or 00 to 02 or 03 I believe. In 99 and 00 they made a sport 440 also which the back half of the sled is the same as the indy 340 (70% the size of a full size sled) but the front half is a full size gen 2 chassis. That’s what I upgraded the little man to is a 99 sport 440. Works out nice because sitting on it, it feels like a nice small sled but it still handles like a full size with the front suspension being bigger.
Buddy had a liquid 340 all black Polaris sled back in mid 90s and the sled was old then. He didn’t know the model but that sled was fast for what it was. The top end was limited but ran with the big dogs on the trail. Do you know the model?

I am guessing a TXL. The TX and the TXL were good runners.
He was adamant at the time that it wasn’t a TX or TXL the hood was traditional wedge look. When did XC release?

Look up a 1980 TXL. It was a wedge style that year. After that they went to the INDY 400

In 1980 they made both the TXL and the TXL Indy, the Indy was the first of the wedge style, they made it for a few more years after that, the first ones were dark blue, I am not sure if they ever made a black TXL Indy

I believe they all were dark blue,but I can't remember any other 340 liquid motors that were factory built in a wedge style chassis. Perhaps he painted the hood or the hood came off a Indy 500. Polaris didn't make many different sleds with the 340 liquid engine that I can personally remember.
Ya we never did identity that all black wedge 340 liquid sled but it had some balls and there was always someone with $500 as the sled was passed around the group a half dozen times. It did back fire from time to time sounded like a 12 gauge shot gun when pull started. Lol. Only repair was a new primary clutch always started ran like a hose.

The 340,400&500 all were good runners and reliable. I remember seeing Indy 500's everywhere you went. Polaris sold a ton of those sleds. If you could find a clean one they would all make a good sled for a younger rider. Can teach them how to work on the sled. They are easy to work on and you can find use parts. They were all pretty easy sleds to ride,light steering enough power but not over whelming power.

My husband's friend had a indy 400 liquid cooled, 1989 he believes that could do 100 mph. He's now starting to wonder if that was abnormal. We didn't buy that very sled because we didn't want a starter sled that could go that fast. The 370Z tops out at 67 mph.
