Need New Tires

I need new tires (275-65R18) on my 2008 Toyota Tundra Crewmax. I'm stuck between the Michelin LTX M/S2 and the LTX A/T2. I live in Milwaukee but spend every other weekend in the northwoods of Wisconsin and make one or two trips a year into the U.P. I pull a 4 place enclosed trailer a couple times a year. I want a tire that I will get some life out of but want an aggresive tire in the snow. Any Thoughts???

I researched all different tires and ended up with Cooper Zeon LTZs. Aggressive tread pattern and mostly great reviews.

Michelin and BfGoodrich will wear the best. The BFG all terrain will give you great traction. I have a set on my F250 and I live in snow country. I got over 50,000 miles off of the tires with a truck that weights 8000 lbs.

I have LTX s on my 01 Tundra they lasted 70000 mi I am going going to replace them after the holiday. A new set is about 900 for your Tundra over 1000. I am going to try geo landers for about 500.

Go to http://www.tirerack.com and check out "survey results" tab. It rates all tires in all different conditions. Lots of good info there

I was very pleased with my Firestone Destination A/T's. Very happy with the Bridgestone Dueler A/T Revo 2's we put on the wifes Grand Cherokee too. Great traction in snow and wet pavement and they wear real good.

Go to discount tire direct.com. Find a tire you like and then call discount tire near you and they will have the tires shipped to them. they will honor the online price. I just got a new set, I could'nt decide between the falcon rocky mountain or the hancook dynopro ats. I went with the hancook's. 4 tires mount and balance for 596.00

I have the Cooper Zeons on my truck now. Good in the rain, horrible in snow. Feels like it is riding on top of the snow instead of digging into it. Very unsettling feeling. Far worse than the Goodyear HP that were on it. Had The Michelin LTX's on my old truck and they were good in the snow too.

I put the Cooper Zeon LTZs on my Dodge in the spring, and I will agree they are good in the rain. Have not had them in the snow, reviews said they were good in the snow, but dmsrx now has me worried. I guess we will see.

My exact thoughts. The reviews said they were good in the snow. I guess we'll see.

I buy at discount and always buy the warranty.cant believe they still sell me the warranty I usually end up with at least 5 warranty tires before I sell the truck and get something new.I can tell you the KUMO something tires at discount burn up fast like 30k and they are shot but a few trips to the dump and they will replace them under warranty lol

I put new tires on my 3/4 ton a few months ago. I ended up going with the cooper discover at/3 in E load range. They have a 65000 mile rating on them and so far they have been awesome in the rain, sand, and mud. The last time I was out in the woods running the trails I had the tires pumped up to 70 psi (from hauling the 5th wheel in) and they just walked trough 6+ inch deep sloppy mucky mud with at least that much water on top while in 2 wheel drive. I was really impressed with how they acted. Now if they work that well in the snow, I know what brand of tires I will be buying again. I have around 10,000 mile on them now, they don't look like they have worn a bit. They have good road manners and are not loud at all.

We got 3 inches of wet snow today and I can confirm my opinion that the Cooper Zeons are the worst tire I have ever had for the snow. They don't stop, don't turn and to add insult to injury I slid off the road just after passing two cars.Had just pulled away from a 4 way stop, got over to the right to go by to cars and the truck started sliding to the right and I ended up in a corn field. The road had a slight crown to it and when it started to go I couldn't do anything to stop it. Luckily there wasn't a ditch or telephone pole or it didn't go left into oncoming traffic. I gassed it and got back on the road but as soon as I tried to turn to straighten it out it spun clockwise and nearly did a 360. As i said in another post, they just seem to ride on top of the snow instead of digging in and gripping. Really weird feeling. That is the first time in my 51 years I have gone off the road. needless to say they are coming off and I'll go back to the Wrangler HP's or I'll spend the money on the Michilin LTX A/T's. I really hope you guys don't have the same experience with them but I'll be surprised if you don't. I originally got them because they are extra load tires and the HP's wore out from the towing I do but I will gladly pay for more tires than drive on these.

Same here. You get a little road noise from my stock tires on the Avalanche, but I don't care. They're bad ***.

MICHELIN for the win. LTX M/S or LTX AT2, have run both. They grab like a cat on a screen door.Your mileage and opinion may vary.

I did a ton of research before I bought tires for my truck recently. It's a 3/4 Yukon XL. The best overall rated, primarily snow, where the Kuhmo Road Venture SAT KL61. I put them to the test in the UP at deer season in all conditions, except mud, and they were great!

I took them off road in about 6 inches of snow doing some two tracking and they never slipped. The most impressive thing to me was on southbound I-75 just north of Gaylord driving 60mph on snow and ice covered freeway. Alot of you know the stretch. There were many spinouts and vehicles in the ditch but they held tight and that's what I was looking for.

You can check them out at tirerack.com. I just don't know if they have them in your size.

I am running 36 psi. which is 10 psi under max. I am going to put the Michilin LTX A/T's on. I had them on my 99 and they were a good tire. Like I said, I liked the Wrangler HP's in the snow but they wear out too fast since they are basically a car tire. The Coopers might be okay with a dry snow and may be okay getting through drifts but twice in wet snow they are crap. I know the Wranglers & Michelins are good in the wet snow & deep snow which we get alot because it drifts here really bad. I do hope you guys that have them have better results than I did.
