Also keep in mind the tickets, a sled is not a registered watercraft so they will fine you for running it on a public waterway.

You need to definetly put the float on it irregardless of the depth of water you run in. Do you have check valves in your fuel & oil lines to prevent leakage into the waterway? If not, you could be faced with some heavy fines. In all likelyhood, if you get caught doing this, you might get fined anyway. That would be the the "bunch of money to blow" part. I don't believe your going to have much luck with retrieving a sunken sled with an atv. Lake bottoms tend to have sedement in the bottom that the sled will imbed into. Best retrieval is from above & take in closer to shore where it can be winched or towed out. Have fun & good luck.-Mezz

Have fun

Duct tape vents up on clutch side to keep the belt and clutches as dry as possible. Change out chain case oil with vegetable oil. Shim driven as tight as you can (keeping bottom end). Most of the time a high altitude primary spring and weights (3000' elev) work pretty well for a stocker. If I read this correctly you have to take seat/ seat tank combo off so you may want to buy a Kitty Cat/ Racers gas tank so you can control the amount of fuel you need. grease the snot out of every grease point before and after. Laundry bottle on a rope for the sled and a boater safety cushion velcro'ed to the tunnel + wear a life jacket (Have to be water legal). Disconnect all of the throttle/carb switches. Then Give Er He!! and have fun. Landing on the shore the first couple times is the trick. I've seen alot of WOT to the sand and it usually ends up with the sled WAY!!!! out in the rhubarb. OH! One last piece of advise....When you are going down try to chop the throttle and get the motor stopped before it goes under. Not doing this will kill the motor for sure.

Why not just skip at Bauers Dam like everyone else? Only about 15-20 trail miles from you in Conover. Skipping everyday all day long when ever you want to do it all season long. Most skippers get their kicks there always a nice open spot to skip & as the beer goes down some topless chick will add to the fun or some guy in his undies.lol Seems to me the better & more fun approach to skipping.:)

I think they also shield the undercarriage to keep water from getting up in the tunnel and top of track. ?

Everyone knows cats dont like water!! i only have 1 bit of advise....make sure you know how to steer on water and that the lake is calm, wake from boat can be a killer and if you gotta turn to avoid anything make sure you can do it
