Bad news, then maybe some good news, then way bad news,,,,,,,,,50's in the 3rd week of January!

I'm sure JD will confirm or not confirm on Monday. ( He already hinted about the "bad" and then "good" news in the "Ask John" & "Current Journal" )

Yes, I agree stay positive!

Ok, I had to post on this, as this warmup is such an extreme departure from what I have been hearing and reading lately.

Not that this hyped "Cold Blast" will occur (I hope it does); The last couple seasons I have been more "I'll believe it when I see it kinda guy" but this is at least promising. John's forecast is also looking good, and I think all of us are looking for something positive after this thaw and slow start to the season in some areas.

This year is another dud, but even during a dud year its possible to put some miles on. We have half of Jan, Feb and maybe March left....

Someone build a 40,000ft wall along the west coast to keep the pacific air out.

I read the link in the orginal post....come on man....50 degrees....3 weeks out...if you are worrying about that "get a grip". John gives forecasts on long range forecasts and it changes all the time.... as he says "it's a long way out".....if that happens so be it but to complain or worry about the "possibility" of that 3 weeks out....wow!

I'm tired of the "doom and gloom" of some people. I love the sport as much as anyone and I hope for the best. Last year I didn't get out until the late February storm that dumped 20" + in the northern part of Wis and UP.....it was worth the wait.

Take what we get and enjoy.

Off my soapbox

Screw it. They cannot predict when and/or where a storm will track anymore. I'm not even gonna look for snow to come. Ready to hang it up and take vacations to Vegas or Mexico in winter from now on.

The way I've learn to cope is to accept that this is the new norm. Its going to warm up and melt, and then then its going to cool off and snow. I try to stay positive and just roll with it. When they get hammered, I will be there to ride. I know for most it sucks because you don't have the flexibility, so then you make for a plan b, out west, a little further drive but guaranteed snow.

There is no indication this is "the new norm"....

Keep in mind, remember how bad last winter was? Houghton Airport recorded more snow in that BAD winter than ANY year between 1952-1960! The 2000-2010 decade was pretty snowy for the entire state compared to most decades other than the 1970's... Old timers compared every year to that anomaly of a decade.

NOT for the southern U.P. (Garden Peninsula)! For the past 7 years (that I've kept track of), practically (almost literally) every time a storm (not lake effect, which is non-existent down here) comes through, it warms up and rains for at least part of it - most of the time, most of it.

How we've (technically) had a white Christmas for most of those years is beyond me. And I say technically only because the ground has been white. Not enough snow to do ANYTHING but look at - even then, lawn grass sticks through most of the time.

Am I p.o.'d about the chronic lack of snow - YOU BET YOUR @#$%@%@ I AM!!!!

John might start getting more detailed soon, but there could be something interesting coming... Weather geeks are buzzing. Just ignore this week..... No riding this weekend... no way.

Accuweather is completely computer model driven, no human hand to judge the validity of the forecast.
