Never ever going to be perfect so somewhat wonder what is going on with the complaints? I like bumps pretty darn boring riding loose fresh groom mile after mile that is not fun. Just have to make the best of it or take alternate routes know your bailouts if too much for a given group of riders. Take a break have a burger & beverage then seems a lot better after a break but really isn't.lol

come on whitedust, they're paying 45 friggin bucks, spending a grand driving 16 hrs, it dang well better be perfect or else. After all the money, time and effort sledders put in are they not entitled to at least a good ride. Groomers need to groom 7 times a day at minimum and if they are not then well,, there just lazy and don't care!

Lenny: What they need to do is watch the groomer go by grooming then a watch 300 sleds tear it up in minutes. Back in 90s I was trying to pull out on trail in Tomahawk from Super 8 the groomer goes by & I'm thinking " whahoo good times fresh groom"! There was so much sled traffic took me 10 minutes before I could get a break to get on the trail by then the conditions were complete trash. That taught me a lot about frequency of grooming & sled traffic 10 minutes & crap no amount of grooming would help in that case.

Hey Lenny,
I'm coming up next weekend to stay by Keith and Sherry, do me a favor and get em all nice and flat for me cause I already spent the 90 for two permits and I am driving 4 1/2 hours to get up there you know. Just cause I get free lodging by Keith doesn't mean I have to ride on rough trails...........On second thought keep em nice and rough so I don't have to spend money on gas and burn up my 45 per gallon ves. I will just sit at Beer belly's and drink beer and piss an moan how I'm not having any fun. You can join me if you want, after all if you aren't grooming 7 times a day there's time for beer, right. All kidding aside, maybe we can hook up for a ride, I'll be up till next wed the 6th.

We've been riding the up for twenty years. Every time we see a groomer operater we stop and shake there hand and say thanks. Trail get pounded sleds are way better suspended than they use to be. Moguls
On Nichols makes it way more exciting than blasting 90 for miles. We ride after dark on trail on fresh groom until early morning.Great work Lenny and all the groomers!!

Let's give the Groomers a round of applause!!! what a dedicated group of individuals. Ignore the "Peanut gallery". The "real" snowmobilers don't complain about the trails nonstop and understand that the lack of snow is not your fault. We also know that a trail permit for $45 is a bargain, even if you get in minimum riding you are helping maintain the equipment with your permit money. Think about where the trails would be if we didn't have anyone that cared about grooming. I been there and my club folded up. The west Michigan snowmobile trail is a skeleton of what it once was. So everyone Cheer up and buy a Groomer dinner or breakfast after they finish their shift and thank them for what they do.

The groomers are up and running. However, this year has had a string of breakdowns!!! As I speak the good guys of Houghton/Hancock are trying to repair both groomers. Give a little credit, these guys give countless hours turning wrenches out in the cold, to make your visit to the lovely U.P. worthy of the $45.00 trail permit. Keep in mind trpski that without it these operators cannot get the equipment they need to keep the trails maintained. There was a HUGE increase in traffic in the past two weeks here in the U.P. with the new fallen snow. If there wasn't a break down, there was a groomer stuck. These guys are putting in 12-14 hour days. Be patient fellow riders, they are doing their best with what they got! Enjoy the snow, RIDE HARD and STAY SAFE!

Can I say that it's not JUST the $45 that we would like to get a good return on? Don't forget, we also spend a lot of money on gas for the tow vehicle and sleds, lodging, food, parts, oil and miscellaneous riding gear, too. That's a lot of money pumped into your economy. A town like Rockland...seems to me that they can use all the income that they can get right now. It's in EVERYBODY'S best interest to keep the trails in tip top shape. This thing works two ways: make the best possible effort to keep the trails up and we are happy to come to your area and spend our money.

OK....let's look at the facts! No SNOW anywhere else in Midwest the last two weeks, except the UP! Everyone comes at once...what do you think is going to happen to the trails??? Groomers are doing their best to keep up w/ traffic, because they all have skin in the game! Do you think they want you to have a crappy experience?? Let's chill out w/ the "why me bad experiences" and realize we are all trying to have fun in a great sport, BUT sometimes everyone else has the same idea too!!??? We have free-will to go or not!

Group of 8 just had an awesome time this last weekend w/ Dave & Lori at the Wildlife Refuge! Thanks to all the Groomers for their time, as most just donate it!!! They are doing their BEST!

Just sucks Mother Nature has a lot to do with our trips and we can't do a $%%%@ thing about it.....so enjoy or stay home!
