How was the show? See anything you liked?

The show was good. I didn't get to it as early as I thought so whitedust we never got to meet. I agree that the Doo area was very busy. When I got the to show around 6:30 it was packed. By 8:30 it was starting to clear out. I saw a lot of people from around NE WI that I knew.
As for the sleds I spent most of my time at the Yamaha area. The new SR Viper looks great. I just wish Yamaha would offer the SE in the blue plastic and black tunnel.

The blue & the red Viper is hot,hot hot the red/black not so much. 1st question I asked Kip Can I get the Viper I want in blue or red & answer was no so I would have to get air shocks to get the 136 & color I want. I still need to test ride a Viper sometime but seems to be very good technology no worries about that.

I don't get caught up in all the Spring deals just look at new stuff & soak on it till Fall or Winter. Right now it would be a 2014 Apex XTX clearly the best sled for me. I bought my 2007 Apex Attak GT non current in January 2008 after Yamaha factory test ride ride pushed me over the top in late Dec. I didn't think I was buying in 2008 but factory test ride ride changed my mind. GSX SE close 2nd but I need hooked handle bars & doo 1200 ok but just a little short on ponies for me so comes down to Apex XTX & right now my Attak is still AOK & plenty of hp 150hp on regular gas so difficult to give up my Attak. I don't really know would be the honest reponse.

I know they're just proto's displayed at the shows but I couldn't help but notice the Yami Vipers had Arctic Cat written on the skis. That's just bad, how did anyone not not catch this and at least scratch it off or something LoL.

I went tonight to look at the new stickers .
big turn out.
looked like lots of lookers at the vipers.
looks like big big rear racks are back in style just in case any one wants to start a trap line you sled is already set up.
I never sat on a new doo with t motion before today.
I think it feels way to tipsy prob ok for the deep buy scary on the trail.guess they had to try something to make that long track trail sled work better in the hills.
if a guy got use to it it could prob do some crazy hard pow turns .
still nothing I like better than my 11M8. still holding on hard to having a hood that lifts up in 1chunk.
got a peek at the cut open cat 600 still like what I see. but will not be the guy paying to test it

Man is that the truth! I sure miss how easy they used to be to work on.

I'm heading to the show mid-afternoon tomorrow to hopefully avoid the rush.

It was a pretty good turnout last night. I enjoyed talking to the reps. Lots of little tweaks on all the brands.

I just got back from the show. Skiroule and I had arranged to meet each other there and we had a great chat! We could have talked for hours for sure. As you would expect from his posts etc., he's a great guy! Future rides together are in the planning stages. Another great benefit of this site, meeting new people!

My wife had decided from pictures and brochures that she wanted the Indy 600 LE. She didn't want to go to the show and just wanted me to order her that one. I convinced her we need to see everything in person and she's glad she went! It looks like she is going with the 121" Rush 600 Pro R in gloss black. The gloss hoods and graphics looked pretty good! I fell in love with the snow check graphics on the Assault, but it's only available in an 800 and a 600 is enough for me. The color of that sled is awesome! If that was available in a 600, I'd be looking very hard at it for the one or two times a year I ride off trail with rp7x. Can't wait to see them on the snow next year.

I think I may be keeping my sled another year as any update for me would be color and graphics. I hope to purchase a $2,500-3,500 RMK or 144" switchy this summer for my off trail rides. I'm hoping for a new 4 stroke in the Rush next year. All of the manufacturer's had nice looking sleds and good traffic. It wasn't overly busy at the time of day we went, so we were able to look things over pretty well.

I was there this morning......I am a cat guy and one of the things that I noticed that cat was missing this year was the little stands next to each sled giving you the specs.....Poo and Doo had them. Cat you had to look at the little 4"x8" tag hanging from the bars.

Nice to see all the sleds.......good lord are some of them getting expensive.

Now that I'm really looking at things closely, it looks like the LE models are only available in an 800. If that's so, it may be back to the Indy 600 LE. I think that's a big mistake if they don't offer the 600 in the LE! I hope what I'm seeing is wrong.

Likewise mspease! And you’re not exaggerating about the talking for hours. Luckily we had schedules to maintain. Riding will happen next year. A lot of plans are coming into focus here. I don’t see how I’m going to have time for work.

I did spend some time at the show and I’m like a kid in a candy store. I want one of everything and that includes every make. They are all making some awesome sleds. The colors, the styling, the technology: it’s all good.

I must say I was impressed with the comfort of the seat on the Ski-Doo Renegade FreeRide (I think). When I sat on it, I felt like I should be holding a brewski and a plate of nachos. I think it might have even had a handlebar holder for a remote.

I was surprised to see neon showing up on some Ski-Doo graphics. I don't know if that was a one-off thing or if you can actually order a sled with them. I guess I’m naturally attracted to bright objects so I liked it but I did have flashbacks of skiers with matching neon outfits. Not a good memory.

LOL ezra! I know how much you love that Poo 800! I've blown enough belts over the years with my 800's and I don't need to be first across the lake anymore at my advanced age. I don't see myself ever buying more than a 600 2 stroker.

Did Polaris offer any hope for a new 4s platform next year?

A few notes that weren’t included in my previous, mostly non-informational post:

Yeah, I know it’s only graphics, but I thought Polaris stepped it up a little extra this year. I think they added a lot of pop to their appearance and like mspease stated, the Switchback Assault (snowcheck) had a great look.

If I could have my pick of the litter, these would be my choices (not necessarily in order of preference):

Polaris Assault Switchback (snowcheck)
Ski-Doo Renegade FreeRide (still liking the white)
Artic Cat XF (white/silver/black – nice!)
Yamaha Viper (Loved the red/black version)

Some interesting new engine stuff but also a lot of retention of previous year options. Personally, I don’t have a big problem with having nothing new in some areas. The Edsel proved that new isn’t always better.

The MSRPs always seem high but I don’t put a lot of stock in the MSRP. My local Polaris/Yamaha/Arctic Cat dealer has always been able to offer some decent discounts off MSRP. He knocked 2K off MSRP on my RMK snowcheck last year. Speaking of which, I ran into one of dealership owners at the show. He said the dealership brought up a busload of 60 people to the show. I saw the sign-up sheet when I was down there last week but every time I sign something there it costs me a lot of money so I passed.

If you get a chance to catch one of these shows, by all means go. It’s surprising how often you can walk in with some preconceived notions and walk out with a completely different opinion. I was there late in the day and the crowd was lighter so there was lots of opportunity to get up-close with the sleds. Even with the lighter crowd you could tell there was a lot of interest. It seems the sport is alive and doing pretty well.
