So what I got out of that other post was they have problems with the pistons. But then I also saw that the 13s and 14s dont have that issue anymore. And from what it seems everyone loves the way the sled rides no matter about motor problems or not. Im mostly a trail rider but I do go off into the woods also.

Correct. 800 problems supposedly fixed in 2013. I was told the only difference in 2014 was the color schemes. I went with the full warranty for peace of mind!

and the cool thing about the warranty is Polaris will notify you towards the end of the factory, then u can pay for it over 4 months, like 425/mo or something..i have to have my first pmt in by jan 17th..just realized I almost forgot..lucky this came up

from all the info I have ever sen on the 13-14 800's the skirts are thicker and mapping seems right. I would never consider a 2s on a trail sled again but remember I am an old fart so not real aggressive on trail. 4s is very versatile but not all people are ready yet. 4s longevity is far superior to 2s but like I said it's a matter of preference, riding style etc,,,,

I have a '13 SB Pro-R 8 and absolutely love it... Great handling sled, great power, great ride. I do spend some time tinkering with the clickers depending on condtions to get the most out of the sled. I also ran with some F8's and whoever got the hole shot won. Sometimes me and sometimes the F8. Neither one of us could real one another in. I do have the BMP Durablilty kit getting installed in it for piece of mind. Have heard good things on it.

Polaris 600 motors are just as good as any 4s. I had over 8000 miles on a 600 and then had to put a new jug on it ONLY because the guy I had maintaining it put lock washers on the exhaust valves and not loctite. 4s being more reliable than a 2s is not something I've ever seen in my experience. Oh yeah and they weigh a LOT more than a 2s

Nick Keller has 60,000+ miles on his 2010 Vector. Don't think that'll happen with the 600. I realize no one puts that many miles on anyway, but there's no way to compare the two for reliability.

A 2s is a 2s never ever compare any 120hp 2s to any 120 4s just not fair to 2s no comparison to 4s reliability... I mean really poo 600 pretty good engine but not in same league as 4s.lol

$1700.00 for an extended warranty? YIKES!....still ain't figgered out how Yamaha and Bombi can offer 4 st. 50,000 mile able motor sleds for the low low price of a disposable 2 stroke.

Last sled a bought a 3 year extended on was my 755Rmk and that was $620. Polaris Star. Dealers sell policies for private warranty companies and prices are all over the place. Good item to shop closely. I got 2 more years left on a 4 year that came with sled. Doing my best to get a new motor but the original is doing just fine. I figure if you ride trails only and qualify for an AARP card like me then a 4s may be just fine for you. I am looking at a Yamicat for a trail sled But don't bash the 2s motors they have a purpose in our sport. As for snobuilder, why does every post out of have to negative? Your not building anything.

One concern I have with the newer 2 strokes is how the oil is tweaked down to a trickle. I am not sure if my math is right on this but I use only 8 ounces of oil to 4 gallons of gas. 64 to 1 is what I come up with. That is insane. I have a 4 stroke dodge hemi that burns oil at the same rate as my sled???? The 2s sleds are for epa reasons running to lean??? My plugs looked like new at 2300 miles. Power valves are clean too??? Guess those are upsides???

Not sure why you guys are so adamant about this. Do you have any actual facts or studies that can prove this? I've heard this for years yet I've personally heard about as many 4s problems as 2s.

I have no facts or studies to provide but I believe it comes down to the 4s having a capacity of oil lubrication system and a 4 stroke in a sense working not as hard to produce relative same power. It seems 4 strokes can handle inferior fuels easier and less risk of burn down. 1 fuel mixture burn pr revolution of the crankshaft produces more power than a 4s but also more force the engine handles.

not sure about price points, but its a 4 stroke, so its basically a small Honda car..weighs as much too

exactly..when my '12 800 burned down my dealer explained they r running so lean from the factory for epa that they r burning down compared to older sleds..when he refused Polaris full engine replacement and insisted on a block only so he could rebuild it from the ground up, (which poilaris fought tooth and nail), he set it up to not run as lean

With the help of rp7x, I have turned my oil pumps up so I'm using a quart of oil every 120 miles or so. From the factory, it was hardly using any oil at all. I could ride all day in the UP and the oil level would hardly drop. At over 140 rpm's per SECOND, these things need oil!!

I cant imagine buying a new sled and having to purchase an extended warranty, let alone pay $1,700 for it. Am I missing something here...does it get 80 mpg?

not sure what mpg has to do with warranty, but my '12 800 has over $11000 in warranty repairs
