I have the switch 600 2012 pro r. Very nice sled but as far as handling goes and trail riding it can't be beat. It does take a lot of fine tuning to get it how you like. For the motor I can't tell you as mine is a 600.

Kinda got my eye on a Yamicat 141 for trails and a 2015 800 Rmk Pro. Out in Montana with my 12 800 pro, no worries. Signal is dicey to post.

I have the 600 Rush, Pro-R, bought this year, and rode it twice last week. It's a totally amazing sled, with an incredible ride. I call it the "cloud" because the suspension is so incredibly soft in all conditions. It does have some inside ski lift, reminding me of the old ski-doo chassis's, but I'm hopeful I can tune that out over time. Motor has plenty of power for trail riding, at least for me. I need more experience with it, but I'm certainly glad I bought it.

thinking about getting a new polaris switchback pro-r 800. what are your guys views and experiences with them.

Get the assault 800. it's great on the trail and you'll have no problems off trail. at least ride one, but make sure it's set up for trail riding.

I have a few buds with the pro r for trail sleds I can tell u that 600 is a overachiever they will hang with the 800s till about 75/80 .
for a trail runner I would get the 6 . do u want a overachiever 600 or a underachieving 800? real dyno numbers are less than 20hp

Can you source those numbers. I bought a Indy 600 sp and I think its a hoot. The motor pulls great to 90....just wondered what HP it makes.

The inside ski lift is something that needs tweaked. I've made several adjustments and have minimized it quite a bit. Reducing preload on the spring of the FTS can help. A lot of guys are tightening the limiter strap but I think that's overkill.

It is a machine that you need to really lean into.

EDIT: just realized you have the rush. I have the switchback and the above is based on the longer track.

well dyno tech has the 13 800 at 144.4hp and I have not seen a dyno tech sheet for the 600 but have seen slp and bmp and both have the 600 at 129hp and 131hp with 86 and 87 foot lbs

definitely read the thread posted above..i have 2 800's..one '12 pro r and one 13' switch pro r..one has had 3 major failures(pro r) and the switch has been beautiful..absolutely the best trail sled I have ever ridden..just not as fast as the short track top end..i would recommend the 600 if u want to guarantee no motor problems..but they are so light(my buddy has one) and so fast u absolutely cant keep the track down with any factory settings...so probably straps as suggested above..but if u want to roll the dice..the switch 800 is the ticket for trail

the pro RMK's are more than what they are cracked up to be. I need one so bad it's not funny. Poo has so much good design into that sled it's scary. I have lost all my fear of blowing up when I see what the machine is capable of. Hopefully I will have one next season.

I have a 2012 Switchback Assault that has been great. I have a little over 3000 miles on it and have done nothing to it except add oil, and not much of that. It has the original plugs, belt, skags, hy fax, I put a tall windshield on it and a set of mirrors. I have not ridden the Pro-R but the Assault is a blast, the perfect sled for me so far.

I have a 2012 Switchback Pro R. It has around 3200 miles on it and the motor is starting to fail. The compression is starting to drop on the clutch side. I have a piston kit sitting on the bench to put in this week. Even with that being said, I would for sure buy another 800 Switch Pro R. I was told the 2013 800's have stronger pistons and the 2014 have better cylinders.

My last sled was a 2011 600 Pro R shorty and I hated it. I could never get it to handle correctly and the ride was rough. The Switch out of the box handled great, rode great and was extremely fun to drive. This thing may not have the huge 100 plus mph constant top end, but getting there is the best part. Lean back and the skis lift and feels great. Lean foreword and the skis drop and the corners are no problem. jumping off of berms turns into something to look forward too whenever the chance arises.

My wife rides a 600 Adventure ( it has over 5000 miles on it now without any problems). On the few occasions I drove it, the fun factor for me was just not the same as the 800.

I have a 13 assault, and I love it! the 800 pulls hard. I ran with some new f800's yesterday and I ran neck and neck with them!

Polaris 600 motors are just as good as any 4s. I had over 8000 miles on a 600 and then had to put a new jug on it ONLY because the guy I had maintaining it put lock washers on the exhaust valves and not loctite. 4s being more reliable than a 2s is not something I've ever seen in my experience. Oh yeah and they weigh a LOT more than a 2s :)

I can echo the positive feedback on the 2013/2014 800 Switchback Pro-R's. The fun meter is virtually pegged at all times with this sled. ~150 miles so far on my new 2013 and I can't wait to get out again. I bought the maximum Polaris warranty for peace of mind. Let me know if you pull the trigger and I can recommend some key accessories.
