Need to find some new riding partners

It seems as the years go by, more and more of the guys I used to ride with have "packed it in". This season and last, have been the best for snow conditions in a long time. I don't feel safe just jumping on my sled and hitting the trails alone. I'm not into high mileage trail riding as much as I used to be. I enjoy exploring logging roads and seeing the sights not seen as you blast down the groomed trail. Don't get me wrong, fast is fun sometimes, just not on a tight twisty trail with alot of blind corners !. My wife and I usally do at least one back packing trip a year acrossed some portion of the UP but that's not enough for me.
So here's my question , what's the best way to find new riding partners ?
All gased up and ready to ride.

I've hooked up with several JDers through the JD ride board in the past, both near home and up north. I still meet up and ride with a half dozen of them a few times a year. Thanks to John for the great site.

Nobody to ride with in Iowa! I've ridden with a couple people from the JD site myself. Gotta put yourself out there a bit, but we all have a common love for this sport, so I don't get to worried about that. Seems to work itself out just fine. Anyone heading to the Black Hills, let me know, I'd like to get over there in a couple weeks for my annual ride :)

Nytro, my wife and I hail from Rockford, MI just outside Grand Rapids and have a place near Baldwin and ride the trails south of you on a regular basis. My son rides with me quite a bit but in a couple of years he's going to graduate from college and land who knows where. Drop me a PM if you're interested and maybe we can all meet up for a day trip and if we all hit it off we can ride some more, either just the guys or the four of us. I like you enjoy both the fast days and the scenery days.

most of the guys I ride with I barely know. That can makes some interesting 8 hr trips to the UP.

Join a few clubs, put a post up when you're going out, you'll find people to ride with

I'm kinda in the same boat, the boys that have stuck around want to do big trail miles, day in and day out. I have met some great peps on here that want to do only the steep and deep ? At this point, I go up and have fun, as long as I'm in da woods I'm all good.

As a matter of fact I'm heading out with two guys from JD right now! On top of that one of them bought my older sled. Used to ride with a friend of mine and my son who's now in college. They don't get to ride as much as before, but now thanks to JD I'm not riding alone. My fiance likes to ride with me so that's a huge plus.

Bottom line...you are doing the right thing by reaching out and meeting people here. I agree riding by yourself is not first choice so keep looking...

Nytro.....if ya' ever get to 'da UP, give me a holler. Always looking for someone to ride with. Most of the time I ride alone.

Sounds like our riding styles are very similar. I like to do a lot of off-trail exploring, versus running down the trails wide open for 200+ miles a day.

My wife also rides.

Although I live in Marquette, we have a cabin in the Curtis area, and do most of our riding between Seney/Grand Marais.
