Warmest base layer

Looking to purchase a warm base layer for my wife to wear under her bibs, she gets cold very easily so I am asking who makes the warmest ones? I have started looking at Klim, Under Armour and Cabela's, but would like to hear some real life testimonies before making a purchase. Thanks

My wife has both klim and underarmour base layer. Klim midlayer, and coldwave outer layer. I also got her one of those neck gators and a windproof balaclava. The important thing is good layers and no cotton.

My wife also gets cold easy. She wears underarmour base layer, klim sundance pants with klim intrigue pants. Stays good and warm.

There are many companies that make nice baselayer products. Unfortunately the one I have found to be the best supports anti-snowmobiling groups and that is Patagonia. All of the ski/snowboard companies make nice stuff too so I would just shop around for the best price. I would definitely not limit myself to Klim and Underarmor.

My wife and I both like the military layers. They work great and keep you nice and warm. They're $19 each for a top or bottom shipped I believe. Send me a message for the info to get some ordered.

My wife gets cold in the summer...her snowmobile layer consist of Walmart brand under amror (much cheaper). A pair of sweat pants. A nice light shirt and a light hooded sweater...now socks are a different story. The only ones she has found that keep her feet warm are Doo socks. I am sure there are others that work but she is happy so I am happy.

A lot of times when we are riding she says I wish I didn't wear the bottom layer...until the sun goes down then she is fine. Has not complained about getting cold in years.

As far as a suit she has a two piece Choko and been real happy with that also. (bibs and jacket)..and leather ski doo gloves. Ski doo boots.

I have a mix of brands including Craft, Wickers, Jockey, they're all polyprop and they all work fine. The price varies a bit but the quality and performance is fine for all of them. X2 on the Doo Socks, just one layer, one pair, all day and my feet are warm throughout. I wouldn't have guessed that a simple sock could make that much of a difference.

How polypropylene keeps you warm and dry.

The key to effective dressing in cold weather is layering. Your body has its own heating and cooling system; layering can maximize the efficiency of your body system and allow adjustment to various levels of exertion so you can maintain a comfortable temperature. Polypropylene thermals should be the first undergarment next to your skin. This is the most critical layer to ensure warmth. When participating in outdoor activities you will inevitably begin to sweat; sweating is your body’s way of cooling itself. Cooling is good during warm summer sports, but in cold weather it can actually work against you. Your next-to-skin layer or underwear should be made of a material that will pull the sweat from your body keeping your skin dry and comfortable. The process of pulling sweat from your skin is often referred to as “wicking.” Underwear designed to wick come in an array of materials, some natural and some synthetic. Polypropylene is a superior fabric to others such as cotton. Cotton and many other fabrics wick sweat, but retain it and take too long to dry, keeping your skin wet and cold. Polypropylene underwear does not absorb any moisture so it dries very quickly. 100% polypropylene is not only the best in terms of performance it is also the best value.

Hello Mrs. WAK here.

I have the same issue and have tried Klim, Under Armor and a few others. but the only thing that really works for me is WSI Sports WIK MAX Full heatr pant. Goggle WSI sports and you can see them. They are a little pricey $139, but totally worth the price and then some. I have been riding with them for over a year and don't have to worry about getting cold. And the 49's wore some of their gear when they played in Green Bay during the playoffs.
