Our annual trip....not so great

well...we started our ride with 17 sleds....by the end of the weekend....Two Polaris's...and Two Cat's were on the trailers with engine troubles...and an older ski-doo...and an older polaris were also running rough.

2011 Rush had electrical gremlins...stopped on trail wouldn't start...towed it 9 miles to a bar, and had it picked up by trailer...owner bought new sled...another rush 600 at the nearest dealer.

MY 08 CAT locked up...between Kenton and Sidnaw...done for the weekend...towed back to Hoppy's...and trailered back...sled is going back to see chad monday.

Next the 03 pantera 600 (with low miles)...took out a cylinder...on the way home sunday...it's also toast.

Just heard from another friend who stayed the week....and his 08 polaris 600 puked today. (think he's buying a new sled today)

and a 98 670 HO, and 98 polaris XC 700...ran crappy all weekend...but neither burned down.

The trails were awesome...and we did have some fun....and I am thankful I ride with a good group of people.
Nothing worse than breaking down....I am hoping I will be riding again this winter...we shall see...can't afford a new sled if the cat is toast..keeping my fingers crossed that she will be an easy fix...and I have her back soon....or my season is over.

Beginning to wonder if I ever should have went back to a two stroke.... :(

Unlike my buddies I am not rich...if mines costly to fix...or toast...I'm done for the year.

Yeah...already having that 20/20 hindsight....next sled will definately be a 4 stroke....and probably a vector or apex again....power steering...for sure...though..I relly like how this cat rode and handled....when it was running.

that sucks worst part is I have not seen a complete crate 1000 for a discount price for over a yr.
that 1000 was fun but most did not last past 2k

I know too many people that had problems like that. Those 1000's just seemed to die. Even had a really well respected dealer tell me to steer clear of them. Hope it's a easy fix but don't throw all the cat's and 2s out due to this one. Look for an 800 if you liked the way this one rode, those seem to hold up real well. Know one guy with 9k on it and it's still running great.

For all of those to happen at once or 2 days sounds like you all came across some bad gas somewhere which is another reason I like the yam 4s they tolerate that gas situation

I have a pretty good memory, and I believe I told you 'you're in a world of sheet and don't even know it yet'. A/C makes an inferior product - worst quality in the industry. You had 3 choices for an alt manufacturer, and you picked the incorrect one. You can always go buy another tank, it won't burn down, but it weights a ton.

Went up to TY give-away last weekend. One guy with a turbo Apex started on fire (I don't know why he was running the sled on the trail with 14 pounds of boost). Now it is called an Aflame. (We got the fire out so fast that he had minimal damage to it and it was fixed by Saturday.)

line em up any day worst quality in the industry how do u come up with this evaluation?
durability? reliability?longevity ? quality of glue used to assemble? quality of internal parts? race stats? industry innovation? pretty bold statement with 0 facts to back u up .opinions are like ars holes

Welll...mr expert...guess I didn't take your advice...I like Cat and Yamaha...I buy my sleds from the TWO best dealer's in the upper midwest..Pat's and M & M...they sell yamaha and polaris, and yamaha, and cat respectively...that's why I ride what I ride...pat's just added polaris...and that would be my LAST choice for a sled...Cat may not have the build quality of the others...but they sure do ride and handle nice....yeah..my sled blew..let's see what happens..I will be back on the trail...right now hindsight is 20/20...."the I told ya not to" is kinda prickish on your part....KARMA's a biotch dude...I hope you don't get towed... And in case u missed it...the first sled that went down on our trip was a 2011 Rush 600 ...electrical problems (that sled was bought new in december 2012)....the 08 Polaris 600 (same year as my cat)...blew the motor yesterday...he went to Pat's and was planning to buy a 600 rush...staunch polaris guy...has owned polaris sleds since 1970 (and only polaris)....he left with a vector ltx...one test ride was all it took...with the eps...he said it felt lighter than his 600 polaris...so where do you get this TANK stuff from??? ....ANY SLED CAN BREAK DOWN.....giving a guy..."I told ya so" when they broke down is not cool...Karma....it's coming for you....lol

With a group that large I'm surprised you got anywhere at all. I think 4 is a good number.

You are not far off with that comment....lol...we have ridden as a group like this once a year ever year since 1996..good friends...annual trip..one year we had over 32 sleds...and yeah...people break down....this is the first year I ever got towed...but I have towed plenty of other people through the years...they are good people, and we all help each other. But yeah... large groups can be a PITA sometimes.
