Naw with 3k trail miles a year plenty of lean green to spread around. Not a lot of national chains in the UP & WI northwoods so sometimes novelty for us.... everyday for city folk not so much up here.

Glad you cleared that up , cause I was thinkin the same thing polarisdan was.

...The casino in Christmas is OK and the joint across the road from there is good too.

That'd be Foggy's Steakhouse. If you're in this area don't forget The Buckhorn.......new owners a couple of seasons ago.....menu is essentially the same but done quite a bit better.......better wait staff too......

I don't have any idea on quality as yet but Mrs Buddah just noticed in the local "shopper" mag that apparently The Woodlands in Shingleton is re-opened under a new name.......used to be really good for breakfast AND Trail 8 goes right through their parking lot...........I'll check it out personally as soon as I get my sled back from WI

All suggestions so far are good from my many years of riding in this area. The best food I have eaten in the last 2 seasons has been at the Haywire Restaurant located across the road from the Boot Lake bar. The food is outstanding. The young owner is a veteran of the military and was born and raised in the area. After the military, he went to culinary school and returned to the area eventually to open his own place. The place is nice and his parents help him run the place. The young man can really cook!

Munising is our home away from home. Love the area. All of these places mentioned have their signature dishes and many good items. Hard to find a "bad meal" up there.
I have to give a plug for the Buckhorn. Right on trail... great owners and waitstaff and the food is delicious (especially a late night pizza after riding).
One place not mentioned here is the Up North Lodge. If you are heading west at all...I highly recommend heading towards Gwinn/Arnold for this stop. Beautiful Log cabin lodge in the middle of the woods. Great food and a good ride out there.
Closer to Munising itself is both the Jackpine and Bootlake as mentioned. Both right on the south loop out of Munising, and good stops if you hit the Big Springs "boat trip" to check out the spring.

Don't know about Bootlake........it used to be really decent but lately it's closed/open.......i.e. bouncing between the 2 and you never really know the status........it's a shame because I really like the place.

And while we're in that "area".....if you knew the backstory on how the Haywire happened to be built......well, I personally won't patronize a "spite" restaurant.......YMMV

Come on, tell the story.
I've been going up to Munising since 1980 and never heard it.
Always stayed at Rick's Hillcrest Motel until he passed away. Now we stay at the Super 8.

If you make it down town.... Hit up Johnny Dogs right next door to the Barge and across from Moose lodge. Its going to be gone soon. He is moving to Marquette and making the Munising location seasonal.

I walk in and always get the special or tell John to surprise me. Have never been disappointed.
Last visit for me was a hotdog wrapped in bacon. Dipped in buffalo sauce. Covered in home made slaw with celery. I would never think to put that all together on a hotdog but dam it was good.

What happened with he & partners(?) buying The Navigator? Haven't been there in awhile.

He was just shopping around from what I heard. Money is going to be in Marquette by the college. He even looked in to the Pizza Hut building. Guess how much they want for that place?!?!?! With no kitchen equipment.... 600k
