Back to the Future?

An interesting perspective:
Detroit, ca. 1956-1957(?) $0.24/gallon[SUP][SUB]1[/SUB][/SUP] — includes free glassware with fill-up, and you don't have to pump your own gas.
([SUP]1[/SUP] Equivalent to $2.04-2.08 today, adjusted for inflation; compare to the $1.81 reported in a previous post!)

Well I started this thread in September and at that time I think a lot of people thought there would be a better chance of the Bears making it to the second round of the playoffs than seeing gas under $2 a gallon.... what's next?

I filled all my gas cans when it dropped to $2.99 who would of figured.

Me too.....now since they're empty again and every piece of gasoline burning equipment I have is either full or put away for the winter, I'm going to wait and see just how low it will go till I fill them again.

I've heard various reports over the past few years tht the Saudis and OPEC-ers get a bbl. out of the ground for around $5.00.

Saudis can probably produce cheaper as anyone, but I don't think $5 is in the black. Perhaps @$25/$30. But they have large reserves of CASH$$$$$ an OIL! This low oil price will put some producers out of business. New high tech production very costly, and doesn't last all that long as far as producing goes.
