What temp is to hot

Hello all, I was riding New Years day and my sled went up to 157 degrees, I have a 2013 800 Adventure, in good conditions runs around 125 to 127. Was just wondering at what temp a person should get concerned.

Not your sled but earlier this week on the fresh groomed froze solid trails the temp on my Yamaha 4S went up 25 degrees over normal (have digital temp gage). Still had another 30 degrees or so till the temp light would have come on but I still put one scratcher down and temps came right back down to normal. Personally, if I can keep the sled running normal temps by putting a scratcher down I'll do it. Heat is one of an engines worst enemies.

For the most part you will not have any problems with temps under 200 deg. for short periods of time. When the temps get around 220-260 deg. then motor problems might happen. This is a general guide line, every situation is different. I also have the same Polaris 800 and low (no) snow, temps of 160 is common on that sled and I have not seen any higher temps then that yet.

My cat has a light that flashes on the digital display at 150 and 186 I believe. I run scratchers on my high country when I trail ride just for the cooling effect. Slides are cheap.

fyi if u get a reflash from nextstage gauges u will get a actual temp read out from your cat gauge among a lot of other things

Temp should be available stock from factory imo.

so should 90 data logging and when using logging the fuel gauge should represent amount of logging space left they should all have-a/f-boost- air intake temp-and u poo guys should get altitude stock all it takes is what nothing out of the oem pocket. all the hardware is already in the sled and the gauges are all capable of re flashing to hold data. oem not doing it
so a guy will do it for u for a hundo

Thanks Raceinsnow, 157 was highest it got and was for a short period of time.
