7 Days No Snow

It's now 7 days since a snowfall report has been posted. It is also Jan 15th and trails across central Wisconsin haven't even opened. Pretty bummer of a year for those of us who enjoy riding these areas.

It has snowed quite a bit in the UP in the past 7 days, just no reports of it...

Hello,
I live in Green Bay and we have three inches, very sad. Without snow, I might as well move to Phoenix or Palm Springs at least I can still drive 3-4 hours to ride a sled. Instead of driving to Watersmeet I can go to the mountains.

We can control many things in our lives, unfortunately, the weather isn't one of them. Not quite time to hit the panic button yet,
but a nice long snow dance by all JD'ers can't hurt. It will get better!! I can relate to your pain though. It's a tough pill to swallow
when the season is so short to begin with.

Well, considering how warm the sun gets in Feb., there isn't much season left. All it takes is one sunny 25* day and the plowed fields go pretty quick. Yeah, there is plenty frost in the ground at least, but it doesn't seem to wanna snow more than 2" at a time. We're relying on multiple 2" snowfalls to open the trails....it aint pretty. I don't see it happening for more than a few days if they do ever open..36* today, with 30's over the next several days, what we have now will be gone by Sunday afternoon. Then, we start over Tuesday and Thursday with chances of snow....time will tell

Right on. Came home from work at 5 pm and the snow has compacted to the point of seeing grass again. I don't know if the trails will even open this year in Brown County. Based on my historical memory, if the trails in Green Bay are not open by Super Bowl, tehy won't open.

Wish I didn't buy a new sled and trailer; FFFF!

Doesn't help that Ski-Doo did not get me my new sled this year until December 11, 2014. I missed the entire snow boom that occured in November.

But I am driving 9 hrs to Eagle River tomorrow. Cant wait!

Good to hear, have a nice time.

I am heading to Munising on January 25 for a few days. I guess I am lucky it is only 3.5 hours for me.

We'll be in Munising from Jan 23 to 25.
Been go up there with no snow problems since 1980.

Munising is definately nice but I was spoiled being able to ride from my home in Green Bay to Eagle River, WI and back on my days off. This year, no snow!

It amazes me to see people complain about no snow, who live in a state that boards a state that does have snow. We’re talking maybe a 3-4 hour drive to find the snow you want?? Even saying I bought a new trailer for no reason! Try living in FL (not by choice, got go where the money is) and only get one week out of the year to snowmobile and hope that week you pick is the right week. We’ve been traveling to the UP for the past 10 years and have been lucky. Sure it’s nice to be able to leave from your home to venture onto the trails when there is snow. Try planning and paying for a plane ticket, snowmobile rental, car rental and lodging just to snowmobile for five days straight. Starting late November, I’m on this site everyday reading everyone’s interesting posts, complaints, complements and following the weather. I’ve obtain a lot information everyone has provided, but bottom line is, be fortunate you only have to travel a few hours to find the fun.

That would stink. Mine is an 06, I don't lose much if it doesn't snow as much

Yeah, I know I am a cry baby. With career taking up more time each year I have less time to ride and less opportunity for overnight travel. I may have to hang it up soon as a full fledged buyer of sled each year and begin to rent say twice a year. Hoped it wouldn't come to that though. I imagine you felt the same way when you moved to FL.

You're not a cry baby!
For cryin' out loud,... Ya live in Green Bay Wisconsin. You don't border a state with snow,...
you live where Januaury 15th you should be waist deep in it! You SHOULD be Pizzed!!!!!
Florida is a choice. I lived there, came back. You can have it. But I would think living in
Green Bay in the middle of winter with not enough snow and being ticked off about it isn't being
unreasonable at all! I live right across the street from a parked groomer. I am ticked. Ya, I can
trailer it to where everyone else is also, but shouldn't have to. Just saying.
Oh well.

A lot of us do not have jobs that allow travel to ride. A lot of us expect we should be able to ride from our doors in the evenings. Taking time off is not an option when u only get 2 personal days a year. It is a huge bummer. I'm in central MN and I can still see my grass. Once we hit mid feb and the sun is higher in the sky it will be over. Nothing to melt now so the temps will climb quick. Oh well. It is what is it. Nothing u can do about it. I've come to the conclusion I might not ride this year and I'm ok with it. No more new sleds for me as long I live in MN. 9 more years and I can retire and then I'm moving to a Whitefish, MT to ski and ride during the winter.

Beware that attiude took many of my buds out of the sport. Once you trade rental sled for ownership you will find your way out eventually... Nothing wrong with it just saying I saw that pattern repeated many times rental & out.
