Indy, IQ, or Dragon

My son is thinking about upgrading to a newer sled. He now has an edge but would like something newer. I just bought a 2015 Indy and he likes it a lot. But he was also interested in an IQ or dragon. Just Wondering what you guys would recommend and if you need to watch out for anything on these sleds. Any info would be great

I think there was some guys that were having problems with the dragon 700s melting down but otherwise I think they are solid sleds. Used to be like their top of the line trail sled

The 800 seems questionable through 2012 for sure. The early years of the 600 efi had some issues too - say 07 through 09 maybe - the years they kept messing with injectors and reflashes. The 700 wasn't ever popular. Best bet seems to be the 600 say 2010 and up.

I am considering similar sleds. I have an 06 600 carb but it has 8000 miles on it now

Not sure what price range he is in but their are some great deals right now on 2015 Rush 600 and 800' s...I think you can get low financing as well.

This was due to the Throttle Body Adaptor, ~$70 part and a couple hour job. If the sled has over 2000 miles, replace it. New version does not come apart.

There will be two stickers on the top or side of the air box if the reflash has been done on the 700's.

no to the dragon, on sled swap a friend has a 660 shift for sale. I liked that sled, nice and snappy.

I would suggest a 600 Shift or a 600 Indy, both about same sled. Just depends on budget. Stay away from 700s & 800s (both had issues), don't know your sons ability, but 600 has plenty of power IMO. Couple year old shifts are $3000-$5000. But they have some good deals on new leftover Indys .

Try finding a Polaris shift 600. It is a IQ chassis that is real close to the indy you just bought.

This statement is plain wrong Indy much newer design than minmal feature Shift look for a used Rush 600 for your son they can go cheap for 5-6 year old sled.

Used indy's seem to be few and far between which probably speaks to how much people like them. Or perhaps since they are the latest and greatest their owners are the kind that aren't trading up every year

There are a lot of used Shift 600 IQ's out there. A regular 600 IQ or a 600 Dragon SP are hard to come by. The price of a new Indy's keep coming down so a new Indy would be my vote.

Nice post, here is some perception from myself..
I recently considered a new 2015 Indy 600 for $5,195 plus tax and Reg but bought the 2015 Ski-Doo carb for $6,300 plus tax and reg. I know it is more money but I buy two or three new sleds every year and focus on depreciation. The Ski-doo costs me about $700 per year in depreciation which is very low plus it is a nice little sled up to 80 mph. Also, this sled is rock solid, no recalls etc, just drive and put oil and gas in it and sell it once a year.

If you like Polaris, buy the New Indy 600 and save yourself some grief with a used sled.

$5,200 for the Indy 600? I haven't seen one under $6,300 for the regular or $7,200 for the SP, and that's end of season prices. Where are you seeing these prices?
