Avoid the Bergland Bay Bar if you wish, I would rather lose a few customers than all of them because there are no more trails.

Tom, I'm not gonna put words in your mouth but I don't think your saying that if you have a can regardless of decible your not welcome,,,correct? I may be wrong but I understand you more so saying if your sled is louder than it should be your part of the problem so stay away,,,correct me if I am wrong

Does anyone remember the Seinfeld episode where Jerry is wearing the fur coat and Kramer and Super Silvio are calling him fancy boy and saying; me, me, me. Well that is what I think of guys with cans; me, me, me.I like the excuses; lighter weight, more hp etc. Most of that is bs because most of the cans I have seen are on 10+ year old beater sled. For crying out loud, grow some balls and buy a new sled and you will gain hp, handling, mileage and power.

Ah duh. Of course that's what he is saying. We are all sick of the noise. "Ban the Can" is what I said on a different thread.. Tom, use the **** out of it. Print t-shirts. I only want free beer for the idea.

I applaude the effort here but I hope this doesn't backfire on your business. I have a can and have buddies that do also that are trail cans and no more decibels then stock. I guess my group of 6 -8 better find a different bar. I'm just reading that's as "avoid the Bergland bay bar".

I'll give you the one finger salute as you move on and I go spend 3X more at the BBB because Tom has the nads to stick up for what's right.

No more decibels than stock.....that's TFF! GREAT ATTITUDE!

here is some info for Michigan

I believe this is the correct info for ORV which includes sleds?

http://www.offroad-ed.com/michigan/handbook/page/43/Sound-Emission-Regulations

here is the can I am looking at: at or less than 88 decibel which is right at stock and well within limits. These limits are designed to keep noise levels acceptable to people, business, wildlife etc,,,,, Just as the OEM's are regulated to do.

From pages 12-13 of the WI DNR Snowmobiling Laws booklet:

Your snowmobile must have a muffler in good working order, which
blends the exhaust noise into the overall engine noise. The only exception
to the sound laws are when you operate your snowmobile during a Sanctioned
Race or you are a dealer/manufacturer testing the snowmobile on
your own land.

Noise limit—for every snowmobile manufactured on or after July
2, 1975, the noise level standard for exhaust and engine noise shall
be 88 decibels as measured in accordance with the procedures established
for the measurement of exhaust sound levels of stationary
snowmobiles in the January 2004 Society of Automotive Engineers
Standards J2567.

You can’t refuse to allow your snowmobile to be inspected for suspected
sound violations or other suspected equipment violations.
You cannot operate, offer for sale or sell a snowmobile that is wider than
48 inches if it was manufactured after May 7, 1994.
You can’t operate a snowmobile off of the designated trail; if you do you
are trespassing.

Snowmobilers must stay on the right side of the trail and proceed
with caution when approaching oncoming snowmobiles.

Tampering with an odometer or hour meter is prohibited. Contact
DNR law enforcement at 608-266-2142 for directions on how to
replace or service a meter legally.

To help stay compliant, do not alter your exhaust to be louder than
the original exhaust system. If your snowmobile sounds louder than
normal, you may be in violation. Maintain your snowmobile and
seek the advice of a service technician if you are in doubt.
You cannot modify your snowmobile’s exhaust in any manner that will amplify
or increase the total noise emission above that emitted by the snowmobile
as originally manufactured, regardless of date of manufacture.

Excessive or unusually loud snowmobiles are illegal and hurt Wisconsin’s
trail system. Do not increase your exhaust noise or operate with
your exhaust system in excess of the sound limits. Wisconsin vigorously
enforces the sound limits and penalties can be severe, however
the worst thing about a loud snowmobile is that it causes properties
to be permanently closed to snowmobile riding.

Absolute sobriety for all motorized vehicles as well. Only way to drink at the bar is to walk or get a ride. That should be a law as well.
Maybe BBB can put that sign up right next to ban the can sign.

Excellent idea srt20. I have been to BBB few times and wasn't impressed. Wouldn't be missing much. Ride on.

you want him to put up a sing banning cans and a sign no drinking alcohol if you're riding any motorized vehicle?

the next sign he'll be putting up is going out of business.

lets be realistic people.

I love big cans and band wagons! But seriously:
Its all about respect.
I have riddens sleds with cans and always go at just above idle through towns. My Yz 450 stock exhaust is loud, when i take off from garage through town on to trail its always low key, i dont wanna piss neighbors off.
Showing respect goes a long ways.
Band the idiots & loud mouths to.

LMAO...I thought the sign should go up right next to the "WELCOME BIKERS" sign....LOL...this is great...keep the super ideas coming fellers....priceless....has anyone called for a strip search yet?

My neighbor with the loudasst gas 2 stroke leaf blower must also believe loud things saves lives...as a testament to that theory I expect him to be out there again this fall....for hours and hours and hours of high pitched 2 stroke cold smoke leaf wranglin'!...LOL...

HEY...how about a "Silence Footprint"....kinda like the "Carbon Footprint" youse liberals love to embrace...so, ... if you ride a silent Goldwing vs. a hacked Harley you'd be awaded like 100 db points to use in your other life associated ventures...discuss...please...this is super great!

no need to be realistic much more fun to jump on the self righteous band wagon

realistic... hellNO!...I want to be treated like a gangbangin drug dealer or someone soliciting a prostitute and have alla my cool chit impounded...I deserve that for buying my 87db silencer...."please sir,...may I have another?"

We have to agree, noise is an issue. Harleys and drinking are entirely separate issues.

How so?

you all should start a fund so the bergland bar can install a db meter right next to a breathalyzer.

Its all for the public good.

I hate noise...ALL NOISE....
