Very good technical article for you poo guys on proper warm up of CFI engines

2800 miles on my 2012 Pro RMK after this weekend. I have had zero issues, motor has not been apart. My oil pump is turned up 2.5 turns from factory, and i have always let it warm up to 90-100 degrees on initial start up. After digging out after being stuck, or taking a break, I always start it up, and let the water temp stabilize before taking off again. Again, ZERO issues with my pos Poo 800.

RKTEK is a smart guy, not denying the fact, he also sells pistons for a living. Just saying.

i will be putting in his drop in piston kit in my sled over the summer by the way.

Yea, i think the article was more for inexpierenced owners. You are already are doing a couple of the things he mentioned. After having his pistons, the wossners are a much better piston than any factory piston currently produced, IMO. He does sell pistons, but also does much more than that. If the article would have said #5, buy a set of Rk tek pistons or mentioned that anywhere in article, it would have felt like a sales pitch. Good luck with the drop in kit, i have a feeling you will like the performance.

Lol. I would have to agree. If you don't know simply by the sound that there ain't enough heat in the pipe to hammer down, then you shouldn't be riding a 2 stroke. Plain and simple. Just sayin'

I guess I shouldn't be driving a 2 stroke according to you....LOL....do you need a speedo and tach or is your ear enough to judge speed as well?

One thing i will add. On the etecs we have the idiot proof "warm up" phrase flashing across the screen until the computer thinks its warmed up. I added the digital display of water temp to my sled this year. The warm up stops flashing at exactly 85 degrees everytime, which also concurs with kelsays 80-90 degree mention.

It is likely a built in safe guard. I know the etecs will shut themselves off if they idle too long or get to warm as well. 120 degrees isnt that warm. Not sure if poo has a timer or another sensor telling it to shutoff.

warming up any engine is a good idea. Yamaha 4s have been doing this for 12 years now. It's kinda funny that we don't know better to warm a machine up and the OM has to provide that for us but hey,,whatever works I guess,,better than abusing it as some of us do.

I think mine shuts off about 5 minutes after the thermostat opens and no throttle input.

You 2 stroke experts can listen for your pipe signal....LMAO!.....I'd gladly rather listen to the R-1 spine chiller....LOL
