Does anyone have or had a 2012 F 1100? Just wondering if they are a good sled and how you like it.
Ive never had a four stroke, but have wanted to try for my next sled.
PS. Are they super heavy like people say?
Thanks alot,
Tim

I have not owned a 2012 F1100, but as far as answering your question about 4-strokes being super heavy....
Yes, they are a bit obese. It all depends on how you like to ride. If you are a groomed trail rider, not too big of a deal (you will probably like it a lot)
If you are an off-trail rider, you will not like the extra weight (you're not going to like it too much)

One of the guys I ride with in our club has one and likes it a lot. He's a high-mile trail rider and I don't think he's had any issues. I'm not a Cat guy but I've been on a 4 stroke for a few years now and there's a lot to like and loads of torque throughout the power band. I believe the added weight helps in cornering, it seems better planted in the front end but like jeb mentioned above, if you're going off-trail this probably wouldn't be the first choice.

Thanks for the replies. I mainly ride trails up north, but ditch bang alot at home. I just want something more reliable, motor wise.
I know it wont be as "bangable" as my snopro, but I'm sure I'd get used to it.

I have owned from 1996 to 2011 eight 2 stroke cats of all sizes..... bought a 4 stroke 1100 and will never go back to 2 stroke, absolutely love the sled and 4 stroke..... Have a 2016 7000 4 stroke waiting for me at RR..... if you primarily ride trails, you cant go wrong.......the only thing I would say is get a 2013-16, way better sled than 1st year 2012 ( lots of belt issues)

As shelby stated there was a belt issue with those sleds, not sure if there was an easy fix to this or not. I do not ride a four stroke, but a friend of mine does and he rides mostly trails and also ditch bangs in illinois with no problem. In the trails they are really good, corners great. Engine really helps slow you down when you let off throttle. Im leaning towards a four stroke next.

If a top end of 90 or less fits your riding style then the cat 5000, or 7000 for that matter will be a great sled for you.

If your going 4 stroke, go all the way,.... there is only one great choice.....pure Yamaha.....JMEO

BTW, the net has successfully beat down the Yamaha 4 strokes to where they are a sweet buy....of course it's .not like they can't give them away like the Cat N/A 1000, but no one actually wants one of those due to the glut of leftover Cat turbos going for south of 10g's.

For ditch banging better off with Yami motor than 1100 probably a lot better off for trail riding too. 1100 valve adjustment a PITA won't have to do on Yami till about 25,000 miles. You are an AC man so won't sway you on Viper but Yami clutch better match to yam engine than AC.

Your gonna miss your 2 stroke for banging ditches. The 4 strokes are no doubt more reliable engine over the long haul and are fine on groomed trails. Personally i cant make the switch, long live 2 strokes!

U guys oh yeah just go buy a 7000 lmfao . the guy is asking about a non turbo 1100 because they are cheep . but yeah just add a extra 3800buck and u can have a yammi cat.
the belt issues were mare with the turbos and some 800s not all some. most were motor aliment from all directions . I know of 2 guys with 12 1100 with north of 12kmi on them with no blown belts. ether they are blowers or they are not a close inspection will tell u if the one u are looking in to is a blower or not

I have a friend that rides the Cat F1100 n/a and absolutely loves it!! You will not go wrong. I just sold my '12 Apex. That was my second 4 stroke Yamaha. I went back to 2 stroke and bought a leftover '15 ZR 8000 El Tigre Arctic Cat. My first Cat ever having owned nothing but Yamaha snowmobiles in the past. 4 strokes are heavy but are great trail sleds. Reliability second to none. They are a pain to work on IMO. I went back to 2 stroke because of the lighter weight and the ease of working on them. Eventually I'll probably go back to 4 stroke but I really miss the 2 stroke feel. Plus, I don't have a Yamaha dealer within 100 miles of me anymore. I needed a local dealer and the Cat dealer is the only one. But to answer your question, the F1100 is a great sled!

I have a few friends I ride with that have made tge four stroke switch. If your a trail rider and like long distances runs its the way to go. More fuel efficient and you can run regular gas and not be worried about the high strung two stroke that requires premium fuel. Aliitle heavier on the trails but the engine torque is fun. The 1100 non turbo cat isn't very impressive power wise. The yahama xtx 1050cc though is very fun sled, both on trail and off trial for the right rider.

I have an Arctic Cat Z1 non turbo 1100. I've had it for 5 years. I really like it. Comfortable, ride all day sled. Good power, kinda heavy, but a lot of fun on regular gas and no oil. No, not a crotch rocket, but enough power and fun for me.

As Ezra said, the Turbo's had the belt issues, not the non turbo's, we rented the non turbo's for a couple years and no belt issues. If you decide to pick one I have a very clean 2012 F1100 LXR. Valve adjustments aren't any worse than any other 4 stroke either but yes, you will have to adjust the valves on the 1100 far before the yamaha. Let me know if you'd like info on the used F1100.

I have a few buddys that have been riding F1100s since they first came out and love them. After they ride them over 10,000 miles they sell them to friends and neighbors. And then their friends continue riding them for years. They actually panicked when they heard Cat had partnered with Yamaha because they feared they were going to discontinue the Suzuki motor right away. They have plans to buy one more set of the 1100s before they cant get them anymore.
