Had one for half of the 12/13 season non turbo no belt problems but couldn't wait to get rid of it
every time you let of the throttle it was like throwing on a engine brake sucked!

True if you don't like engine braking & know how to use it... 4s not for you. Yamaha has done a lot to minimize engine braking... thought I would miss it but still there enough to be useful. You do have to ride differently changing from 2s to 4s or could get flipped off when standing up. Good to bring it up imo....it is different.

Don't know about preference but the doo 1200 seems underrated and not talked about much

Its the most popular 4 stroke, but i agree hasnt gotten much hype , think that will change with the new XS skin and ITC. I kno of a few people who took one ride on a 1200 last year and sold their 2 strokes. Different strokes for different folks. If your a high mileage groomed trail rider its a tuff sled to beat.

We have a non-turbo zr5000 and love that sled, great for all ages and riding levels.... it's a blast to chuck that puppy hard into a corner, lay off gas...engine brake floats you through apex then BBBBBBBBBRRRRRRAAAAAAAAAPPPPPP.....

Wow, thanks for all the replies. The sled is an lxr f1100 and has the cool Team Arctic graphics. It has 2800 miles and he wants 5800 for it. Dont know if thats a decent price or not. I figure those miles are nothing for a four stroke. I like to do most of my own maintenance, so if it's harder to work on, that's kind of a bummer.
Well, thanks again.

all the new cats suck to work on but then so do the poo and doo and Yamaha. is it really to much to ask for my hood back. PITA to do anything on the new chit

I'm from your area and there is a 2015 zr 5000 lxr which is a much better deal and you can buy it for under 7000 its on craigslist...think its in Moline. My two cents I've owned just about everything too. Even bought a sled from one of the previous people who commented on this thread, anyway, bought a 1100 na may have less power than the yammie 4's or a 2 stroke...but best sled I've owned! 2015 zr 5000 lxr

Doo 1200 probably easiest 4s to work on ,imo, using horse sense. Viper oil change not too bad if you know what you are doing. Apex layered total PITA but lots of guys do their own service on them. Really no reason to go back in after oil change maybe at 1000 miles check fluids but that is easy on Apex.
