Winterpark, CO Rental

My family and my brothers family are heading to Winterpark, CO between Christmas and New Years for a family vacation. Mostly, we will be skiing, but my brother and I are debating renting some sleds for a day. I have not done much research, yet, and hoping from this site I can cut down on my time looking for the right solution. Here is our story - we are both very experienced trail riders with moderate ability off trail. But think of the off trail as the Upper Peninsula, not out west. We are not looking to high mark anything, just go play for a day in an area that is safe to make sure we make it home to our families. Any thoughts on where to take this? Is the snow good enough to make it fun? Willing to drive a bit of a distance from Winterpark if it means a better experience. Is a guide needed, or can we do a DIY run? Beside maybe a GPS, what else would we need? Any place you would recommend renting from?

Head over to Grand Lake. It's about 45 min. away(depending on weather), GREAT riding & trails out of town. You'll find meadows to play in, spots to kinda' highmark, for beginners & all around awesome scenery. I haven't been there in years, but as I recall there's rental places all over town.
There may be places closer to Winter Park as well, but Grand Lake is very nice.

Drive up to Grand Lake they have everything you need. Its about 45 minutes north of you. Google is your friend but they will have everything you need except maybe a room for the night now. We will be in Steamboat riding the same time you are there, your welcome to join us. We are not doing anything crazy because we have our sons with us and it is their first time out west. The only drawback is we are about 2 plus hours away from you guys. Either way you should have a blast. Carry a GPS no matter what and have extra batteries. Also check the avalanche reports the day you ride, I am not trying to scare you but this isn't Michigan it is the real deal out there.

Ezra it's where the elnino storm track is putting all the snow so **** yeah that's a no brainier only problem is co is so freaking expensive

Thanks for the help so far.

For the record, we planned this trip to CO for back in July. Like I mentioned, mostly a family ski trip, but as long as we are there, why not carve up a little powder with some cc's between your legs. Should be fun all around.

Rentals out west are ridiculously expensive. I can rent a sled in Michigan for the weekend for like $350. It's like $350 for 4 hours in Colorado.

I've found rentals are about the same if not cheaper in the West. Plus you won't be burning through nearly as much gas while riding.
