It's Ugly

NO SNOW...here in my area (Tomahawk)....and NO ICE.....after yesterday's rain (and last week's warm weather) we are starting over...the lakes and rivers which had started to freeze over nicely two weeks ago...opened back up.....I went through my weather notes, and could not find a year where we didn't at least have a trace to one inch of snow on the ground by December 15th...sure we've had thin ice before, and sometimes it wasn't ready (the lake ice)..until well into January...but we've always had snow...at least some....I've been here 26 years and have never seen it like this. I realize some of you in Central and Southern Wisconsin have seen brown Decembers...But..once you get north of Hwy 64...it's very rare to not have snow this time of the year... Another bad thing is that there is zero frost in the ground..everything is wet and muddy....We need an extended cold streak to get everything froze up, before we get snow....and frankly..I just don't see it in the forecast...I wasn't going to say anything, because there have been several posts about the weather, and I know you guys are as itchy as me to get out riding...BUT....I have never seen it like this...and I mean never....even if we get cold tomorrow...it would take a month of cold weather to freeze the swamps by me..snow does us no good right now....the majority of our trails here cross water (swamps, lakes and rivers)....so if you are going to do a "weather dance"...do a cold dance...not a snow dance (that only works in the yoop)... ;)

Same here I keep waiting for a change to cold & or snow to gain some traction on the season in northern wi & just not happening. I'm hopeful for January as December is a bust. Ice conditions are back to Nov 1 on big lakes & so many trails are on lakes to get from town to town to trail connectors. I have no idea now when northern wi will be rideable.....never been a winter this snowless & warm.:(

I know that the Earth has experienced a reversal of the North & South magnetic poles several times in its history.
Has it happened recently, and nobody's noticed yet?

Weatherpeople scaring everyone here. Supposed to get 4 to 7 with wind tonight. You guys might be coming here instead of us coming there this season.

Grub, You may have to charge by the sleeping bag and floor space brother!
Cuz I'm afraid it is soooo bad, that anything over 5 inches,... will have everyone and their extended family
trailering just to SEE it!

Attak Man: Same here,... have photo's of Christmas tree every year,... (it sits in front of the living room window) and
some years,... little or no snow,... but you can tell it is at least COLD outside.
Not much we all can do but scratch our heads and wonder What the heck?,.....
Sad state of affairs.
I did send in for my trail passes yesterday, and have all the new registrations on the sleds,...
Trying to stay positive JUST IN CASE we ever DO have winter,... cuz my LUCK,... first good snow,...
I'd get busted for some stupid forgetful something or another,.....
TV Weather Comedians said this will set ALL TIME Records for the month of December in
a BUNCH of categories. Great. Also said that Green Bay would have over 35 inches on the ground
if the temps were 29 to 32 and this was snow!
Ya,... Stick it right in there!

Nothing we can do but scratch our heads in wonder,...
and just about everything else that needs scratching,....

THINK WINTER!!!!!!

I'm hoping someone gets big snow in the next few days so I can travel. I have never seen a winter like this either. It's just very frustrating when we all spend time and money getting our sleds ready for the season and then we sit and wait for snow, meanwhile everyone around you seems very happy with warm weather.

Hey, if it makes y'all any happier, there was FROST on the cars along the street this morning, in Phoenix, AZ … and the temperature at noon is a blistering 50°!

It'll happen just hang in there. A sport like this you have to take the good with the bad. It's all right to have some stinkin thinkin but don't throw in the towel.

I know I know. Just having 13k sitting in your garage for 3months with no use in sight is maddening!

Some golf courses around the twin cities have re-opened, and local news was showing people out waterskiing last night. Crazy!

I hear that Brand New RMK in mine keeps calling "ride me ride me" last year we had no snow here but at least I could drive to it and ride. My thinking was no snow last year, this year should be decent. How wrong was I. Well hurry up and wait.
