3 Feet Of Snow Wouldn't Do It...........

Here in Central WI it is so wet that 3 feet of snow wouldn't open the trails. We have had 5" plus of rain in the last couple weeks, and it is just WET. The little frost we had came out with todays rain. Swamps, creeks, and rivers are too wet. Even the WI River is a little high now yet.

We would need 2 weeks of zero degrees before any snow at this point. Right now snow would not be a good thing around here. WE NEED COLD WEATHER! Here's to cold temps for the new year, maybe we could salvage a little winter yet.

I agree in essence of what you're saying but IMO it's too late to wait for two weeks of cold then bring on the snow. Around here in NW Wisc., when you start getting into mid January the days are getting longer and the sun is already starting to make is presence felt. By Feb 10th, creeks are opening up and swamps are too. We have many trails around here that will not see a groomer this year no matter what. We are already prepping several "trail closed" signs that would be used this year.

To me, let the 3 feet of snow come and let's deal with it! LOL! It'll sure make life more interesting for us won't it! :)

X2 ...In Vilas it will soon be time to let sleds run trails in if we get all the snow forecasted in the next week or so..... Groomers can't get thru all trails I understand that & many trails will dead end at lakes but if we wait for a deep freeze that may or may not come this season will be over.:( Lots of trailers are here so some peeps taking it on the come. If we get the snow forecasted on Saturday it will difficult to keep sleds off the trails. It's going to get interesting around here real soon. :)
