I have been thinking about this for awhile now. Just always like to hear my machine incase something were to go wrong. Most guys say they can hear the machine just fine but still jam out to tunes. Thoughts?
Helmet speakers here too. I can easily hear external noises over (or in addition to) the music. Hearing anything over the wife on the intercom on the back seat is another matter.......
I used to ride without any music. After my son started wearing headphones and listening to music me and my friend decided to try it. Now...I don't like to ride without it. I use in ear sound isolating earphones so the only thing I hear is my music. I can easily wear them with my helmet. In between songs I can barely hear the engine, but just enough to know if there are problems. I ride a brand of sled that doesn't break down so I don't have to worry about listening for things going wrong on my sled.
Been listening to helmet speakers for years with Velcro mounted speakers and a female jack mounted on the bottom l/h side of helmet. Have a cable with volume control between that and the I-pod. Important that you have easy access to the volume when stopping alongside trail.
The sled & snow is the main event for me. I can listen to music some other time. So many people are addicted to their shiny little electronic devices. "Unplug and live your own life in the here & now", that's what Pappy would say if he was still with us. RIP, CJ.
All my helmets have Bluetooth with 100s of songs stored and FM capability though my phone. Sometimes I'll listen on the motorcycle, but not on the sled. Gots to hear my two stroke music while I still can.
We have one bud has his tunes on while riding. Ok with me ....I'm becoming more fluent in hand gestures & he is getting better at understanding them. LOL I'm sure he finds it relaxing .... Heck going triple digits at times floats my boat more than good tunes so whatever is fine with me.
