What type of riding does he do, or does he want to grow into? If he's a trail rider, a little off trail, or a boondocker it will make a difference.

more of a trail rider maybe as he gets more confident a little off i would say 85% trail

If you are going to stay with a doo he will be more comfortable on a 08 or newer xp chassis than the older 03 to 07 rev because of the leg room, I know my son was and he is only 6'1".

Old doo F chassis SS 670 twin was very good for big man but heavy and lots of ski lift. You can find a good one for your budget prolly out there somewhere. Good luck hope your son finds a good sled difficult for tall guy my bud was 6'6" sleds not made for peeps like that.

any ARCTIC CAT EFI. 1999 and 2000 ZR and ZL's will run forever and start in cold without choke and run in rain and water. heres a beauty but its a 96 but clean. otherwise to go modern bob has one for 3500 on that site. when I have to rent a sled a just buy one of these like the one below. then sometimes ride them for the season and then sell next year. sometimes break even and sometimes ahead and the rental fee went to me then and I get to keep a sled. I have 3 like this I bought from bob at UPCAT.COM this way. my2c

Not to be brand specific, but, in my estimation an 05 M 141" might fit him better & should be in that price range....Rider forward design, taller bars, just my .02.-Mezz

With the budget in mind I would look for a 600SDI/500SS Rev. The XP chassis would be better, but finding one within budget would be tough. Not sure if they made a renegade in a 500SS, but a 136 would be nice.

The doo sdi is fuel injection. I'm pretty sure the sdi was not in the xp chassis only in the old rev chassis. But I still think he will not be comfortable on old rev.

I have seen a few crossfire 6 and 7s around my parts for that money . even with no reverse I would rather have a xf7 than a old rev
