Not this past weekend, but will be up in Vilas next week. Reports show fairly good for early season. What did you think in those 120.

A sobering dose of reality smgE46....it will. It always does. Total amateur hour. I plan on riding to lunch and be off the trails by 2 PM.

Thanks for the updates. Been going Christmas week for years and don't really expect mid-season but with snow all over the state, may not be as crowded. That's if it's not melted by then. Calling for 40's and rain for Christmas here.

Today I rode Trail 17 to Phelps from Indian Road and it was a disaster.... Debris all over and full of 1 foot bumps no grooming but a distant and forgotten pan. Until these clubs start continuous grooming Vilas will be ugly. Unplowed FRs and Lakes aok. I'll try again Thursday after Wednesday clipper.

Any idea why they wouldn't be grooming everything by now? It is winter and trails are open and people are riding. What gives?

IDK and I hear you and feel the same way swamps frozen in Phelps and can detour if they want... no idea why no regular grooming schedule? Plenty of snow in Phelps to side drag in but just not doing it. I'll try again Wednesday afternoon after clipper snow.

I am not surprised.

Four years ago, I began bypassing Northern WI for any riding and stopping at a minimum of Watersmeet. Traffic is less too with fewer morons to steer clear of along with the snirt.

Huh?... no casino in Phelps or near Phelps? You need to go to Watersmeet for that and need both WI & MI trail permit prolly 40 mile ride 1 way.

Did 47 miles this morning & updated the Conover trail report. Regarding grooming, there is really just a marginal base out there & lowering the drag to cut risks cutting into the ground & bringing debris up. Grooming is a balancing act right now.

I agree Jim difficult conditions yesterday and today loose snow ridden in now, studders all over, debris present lots of leaves. I'm hoping clipper tonight helps if we get the 4" could change quickly and opp to ride is now with rain/snow mix for Xmas. Fingers & toes crossed for clipper accumulation.

WD Tired of you bashing YOUR local club that you DO NOT belong to. If you would have helped with our trail brushing day this fall, you would have seen the worst conditions I have seen in pre season conditions! With 10" of fluff that gets panned to a 1/4" and one sled goes by, what do you expect! Join the club and become a groomer driver, since you know what the trails should be like! MODERATORS please watch the negative CRAP he spews, BAN HIM from the site!!!!! To sit behind a keyboard and say S**T without helping to make things better is pretty sad!
