small claims court??
what happens when a rider wrecks and then blames you for fault machine and sue's the pants off you

easy money can turn around and loose your A$$

I'd have a lawyer draw up a disclaimer for you, and find out what TAXES you will be into!
Uncle sam doesn't take kindly to folks making money with getting his share

NOT an issue if all goes well, but come an accident or??
and things can go from extra cash to a big headache and or problems!

the modern world we live in SUCKS, too many hands in the cookie jar and most folks cannot take responsibility for there own accidents or problems or actions, !
its ALWAYS someone else's fault today!

I take a spare sled with me, and IF SOMEONE needed it, and all, I MIGHT be willing to let them use it for free, assume NO responsibility, and IF they wish to "GIFT me something for use, then GREAT!

watch your P's and Q's here!
.O brother yeah you could whip any worse case scenario...Small claims court to retrieve up to $10,000 in damages if the rider damaged the sled? That was my point, not small claims court will take care of everything??? There is some risk involved. Good luck trying to prove a nearly new sled was faulty if something happens?Only a true fool (And I know there out there) would waste his time sueing the owner for a faulty sled that he crashed.

Don't need to be in the business section I'm not a business just a guy with a good extra sled in the garage that needs to make some extra cash so I can afford to go up north myself all the details of how things work is for me to worry about if a issue arises and No one else

You might not believe you are a business, but the IRS and just about any other entity would say different (banks, insurance, lawyers, the judicial system to name a few). I let this post slide because I figured one guy supposedly renting out his sled would not cause too much competition to the folks that pay for advertising exposure on this site. I have to chuckle at the mileage it has gotten so far!

Some VERY good advice has been given to you for free. I have no idea how well you have researched things, but I believe a lot of the folks giving you the advice were only trying to help keep you out of a potential nightmare and not be critical.

In the end, I wish you all the best and hope all works out.

"I figured one guy supposedly renting out his sled would not cause too much competition to the folks that pay for advertising exposure on this site. Well then feed back from friends that dont have sleds and need to rent them need the rentals to be more affordable and easier to rent. Granted I have no idea on the insurance and other costs to them and maybe they're just barely covering they're butt? No doubt that renting out to somebody your not familiar with has risks so maybe just keeping it a friend situation/loan agreement would be best Attack_06?

HAHA< if you think lawyers are cheap, or jury's are always going to take the side of common sense, your crazy

ever hear what happened to McDonald's, when some moron spilled hot coffee on them self and sued and WON millions
or how about the city worker in CA< that installed traffic lights wrong and got fired, in court it turned out he was color blind and won millions due to being fired for that problem he had?

locally not so long ago, a local woman walked into a walmart EXIT door and door didn;t open and she fell, jury awarded her a few million for NOT having enough signs on EXIT door, , the 4 ft tall Bright yellow letters on doors were NOT enough apparently!

A Fry Cook In CA(seems a lot of nutty awards there)
had a propane fire in the kitchen where he worked, and sued, as he is NOW scared of propane and cannot cook no ore, a Jury awarded him a few million too, !!

these things happen, you think McDonald and other places didn't have GOOD lawyers??

there is a reason why rental places have forms you HAVE to fill out before you rent, to save there a$$'s from morons that will sue them for things they did to them selves

its a crazy world out there
the name of the game anymore is to be protected, common sense left the planet in far too many ways

someone wins the lottery all the time, but millions loose all the time too! feel lucky!

You tell them Attack! If nobody ever took a risk, we'd be living in caves and eating fruit off trees.

great line..........I personally do see some concerns as well but its not my idea or risk so I hope the guys makes a couple dollars and saves someone else a few dollars at the same time.

And you wonder why there no traffic on johndees, people saying stuff like this to other members.
That's just plain sad, if you can't see the forest through the trees, I feel for you.

Really?!? Think about the whole picture....

Thank you John. BTW, for those of you that don't know, my profession is insurance. I also try to adhere to the rules of this site. My recommendations or suggestions here are NOT a bash. I was not the only one to respond to this in like fashion. It's disheartening that anyone would want to turn this into anything other than a constructive observation. If the OP or any of his onteraz think you're being picked on, you're sadly mistaken. :loyal:-Mezz
