This just doesn't make any sense what so ever. Without the Yami/AC arrangement, Yami sales numbers would be the next thing to nothing by what I have seen. I would have to guess the Yamicat sleds sales numbers are by far the majority of Yami's total sales ever since the arrangement started 4 years ago.

The Thundecat sold so well that Arctic Cat had to find themselves a buyer or go bankrupt?! The Thundercat is not the number one seller.
Really?? They have improved their sleds vastly since 2008...I know...cause I had two 2008 Attaks..and my 2011 is a far superior sled...

You can say what you like about the cat-yamaha agreement...some like it, some don't.
There are alot of vipers on the trail, and if you ask me..the sidewinder/thundercat is a huge hit for both companies.
I guess we will see in a couple weeks if the above mentioned items make it to a new yamaha model or two...the 2018 model release will be telling.
But....keep this in mind no matter what brand you ride...snowmobiling is a dying sport...it's far too expensive to be family friendly, and NONE of the manufacturers have done anything to reverse that trend...it was once a family friendly sport...with affordable models for each member of the family....not anymore....so....enjoy it while you can...I believe in less than one generation...this sport will be through.
If even one manufacturer leaves the game...it will be bad for the sport.
I hope I'm wrong...but it doesn't look good.

Yes, two days ago I paid 8749 + tax for a '17 Pro S 800 shorty. That's a killer since many people still owe more than that on sleds they snow checked two years ago. Rebates are good this year.
I sure hope Yami comes out with something new for 2018 - at least offer a modern seating position. About the family friendly sleds, I would say doo and poo still offer reasonably priced 600's at the lower end that do everything you really need. Otherwise yeah you have to go used. Everything with a motor has gotten expensive. I think the trouble is more middle America wages are stagnant and too many subpar winters lately. Fix either of those, sleds will sell. JMO.
I agree with all you said Hoosier. If Yami doesn't do something for 2018, the writing is on the wall. I have been waiting also for a Yami built right from the start of the design/engine/chassis as one for good balance and handling.

There are many signs there is big (might be a relative term) news for Yami next year. I will say similar to last year with the Tcat and Sidewinder, there are certain dealers that have been invited to a certain place in Canada and had to sign a confidentiality agreement. Taking a guess, but I think it is more than just an upgraded skid.

There are guys all over Craigslist trying to dump their 2014 and newer Polaris's to try and get one of the 17 leftovers. I chuckle as they are trying to get more for their used sleds with miles ranging from 300-4,000 than the new leftovers are selling for.
Poor saps, it's almost comedic.
On the flip side, I spoke to a local Dealer in Northeast, WI that I know outside of the business and he states the low Polaris prices (which Polaris allows "no minimum pricing" in Dealer advertising after 2/2/17) being stirred up by the Minnesota Dealers are about $400 under Dealer cost and thus they are willing to lose money in order free up storage and to bring in cash to fund newer projects.
FYI; he is NOT willing to match Minnesota and he is about $400 higher.

I wish all manufacturers would adopt the spring only programs on certain sleds. That would protect all buyers who ordered a top of the line sled in the spring. You will NEVER see an X package or XRS for these absurdly low prices new for that simple reason, there is no deals on these sleds. Imagine the guy who spring ordered a pro-S for 12K and now the dealer is selling for 8-9k. That means yours is worth 7500 and u lost way to much money for a sled less than a year old. man id be pisssssssssed.
Lots to ponder with Textron/AC and what Yammy will do in the near future? Textron/AC is more of a distant future undeceided product direction imo....Have to give that one some time to soak.... not profitable with sleds bye bye. On the other hand Yamaha is not having a dealer meeting for 2018 release to add EPS to Viper & SW with BNG...lol.. Something new for 50th with Apex / Vector riders hungry for new product for the 50th. We will know soon if Yammy is here to stay with their own snowmobiles.

To Momoney's point, I was going to buy a left over/used X-Package 800 from a local dealer. He buys a new X8 every year, but sometimes doesn't ride that much.

Some Dealers (and business people in general) either hold old merchandise (hoping for greener opportunities or a sucker to come "buy") and some take the loss and sell it to put that money to work on different projects that are more worthwhile.
In the case of the 14 Vipers for $6,999; some likely came from Dealers that held them too long and went out of business and are now taking much larger losses.

You are correct. Doo didn't put the 850 in the XRS. In fact for 2017 you could only get an 800. I hope they do for 18 so I can snow check one

Well this guy is out of "one more years". Here's to hoping Yami has something new from get go. All "new", designed together as one, engine/chassis, = balanced/handling/light weight. I'm done waiting for, and getting nothing but a shoe horned retro fit. If Yami is going to lead in the 4 stroke segment, it is time now.
