Pre Xmas and Xmas Week Forecast Looks Good!

A good size snow storm towards the end of this week with a target somewhere over WI will spread out the white gold to more areas than just the north. Then the deep freeze comes in Xmas week with below zero temps! I'll be paying close attention to the JD storm track but so far so good!

Too early to call sounds like the main track is fluid for now. I'm thinking WI Northwoods gets something out of this but south will get more out of the final storm track. Just have to see what JD says on Tuesday as final track is unknown at this time.

Looks like JD confirmed it. It is taking the Lacrosse - Green Bay track. I remember a few years ago many systems went South on that path or Madison - Green Bay path,,,, can only hope it changes again to the North.

Hooker storms usually swing to the south thru WI and IL while clippers are the northern WI snowmakers. Every once in awhile a clipper over achieves like what happened last week. Any storm that drops 7 or more inches is a big storm for Vilas and we can get a lot of 2-3 inch storms that help a lot. For me I just need to get to Iron County MI and I'm long gone deep into the UP. :)

Nice comments, I remember about seven years ago I rode from my home in Green Bay, WI to Watersmeet, MI in a day and then stayed a few more days riding around the U.P./Northern WI. My wife met me in Eagle River, WI with the truck and I put in the bed and drove the truck home.
I keep waiting for that type of winter again, maybe this year?

Thanks Abe...Phelps trails still not open yet but my buds having a blast to the west in Vilas. I'm riding today going to pak my trails, check out an unplowed FR or 2 and temper my hyfax. So at least a little something today other than looking at all this snow.

Yeah Bear thoughts like that have been running thru my head too this year and hoping for the snow spread.

Having the bulls eye of a storm across your neighborhood 4-5 days out is the kiss of death. It ALWAYS moves.

I for one don't want it to move. If I can ride out of my yard all the better. Kids can come with, see the wife at home and save some cash. Maybe, just maybe the year for local riding!

A lot of truth to that statement. I almost hate to put out predictions for significant snow events in that time frame, as I know that even though I go to some effort in the forecast text to explain confidence levels and also that many already know anything out beyond day 2 or 3 is subject to some kind of a shift (heck, sometimes day 1!), there are those that think the forecast graphics are locked in stone. Occupational hazards I guess!

You can hope for all you want, but you have as much control over it as the next guy - NONE.

That doesn't mean I don't like seeing your forecast graphics, just have to take it for what it is.
