Gas tank question on 2019 skidoo 600 etec

When I open my gas cap in my new ski doo, there is tons of pressure build up in the tank. So much so that it literally lifts the gas cap into the air as I spin it off. I have had ski doo's all of my life and the tanks have always been vented. Is this something i should be concerned about? Do I have a vent plugged or something? Anyone notice this type of pressure in their gas tank? Thanks

Think of the new sleds more like new cars now days, emissions and fuel economy. I have 2018 and wife has 2020 both do the same thing.

Same on the 850's too.

Thanks everyone, glad that there is nothing to worry about.

I would still check to see if the vent tube is pinched? There is a check valve in the vent line. With this happening, I going to take a guess that it could be freezing up as you ride from moisture condensation in the line freezing due to heat being evacuated? When you stop, the confined heat, heats up enough after a while to thaw it as sitting still? If the line is pinched even slightly, the condensation moisture can't evacuate out?

Are you aware you have to burp that sled to get the last 1.5 gallons of gas in there?
Once it appears full, push down on the rear grab handle slowly..depressing the suspension about 10 inches.
Voila, put more gas in.

I worry a lot about moisture build up in the fuel and oil tanks. I'm a little over OCD about it and will try to fill the tanks if possible before the end of the evening to keep some of the moisture out. Never had any issues thus far so I'll consider myself lucky.

Also the burping method Fuji describes is a must too with the Doo's.

I do as you do. And have since started snowmobiling. Tank full, no condensation, or the least possible. We started with steel tanks, they were much worse than the poly tanks that came later.

A pinched vent tube would cause suction in the tank, not pressure.
Never had such a problem on any sled old or new....but my last doo was a 1970.
sounds weird til i see alla you doo guys saying that it is normal....not sure how though....must be a tight knit doo thing.

Why is it a "must?" Etecs get great fuel mileage. When you get near 100 miles you should start looking for fuel on just about any sled.

You ask the dealer about this?

It's a "must" for my OCD! LOL! What does it hurt anyway to fill it to the top while you're pumping fuel?

Hey Bear, yea let's put a backpack trip together the last half of next month. I have a new 31 L Linq bag I'm itching to use! LOL!

Just a heads up that Ski Doos in the G4 chassis have a redesigned fuel tank that no longer need to be burped to fill them up. I see the starter of this thread has a G4 chassis. The prior XP and XM Doos did need to be burped as Bear indicated.

That depends, he says; "Gas tank question on 2019 skidoo 600 etec".
If he added an "R" I would agree with it being a Gen-4 but he doesn't.
He likely has a run of the mill normal build 2019 600 E-tec, the "R" came out late in the year and almost nobody has one. If they do, they paid more for the 600 "R" than an 850 on the Gen-4 platform, ridiculous marketing at it's finest.

I do agree that the Gen-4 fixed the tank burp though.

The sloshing of the gas in the tank, and the gas being warmed up from engine heat is the probable cause of the pressure. The 2 way check valve could also be the problem with frozen condensation.

Yeah, well, Doo fixed the burp fuji, they took the extra 1.1 gal fuel capacity away, eh? Which is no big deal for most, as with the MPG's they get, they still have the range of other sleds with larger fuel tanks.

well, ya but "more is more" if you get a little lost or miss a turn or someone in your group runs out..........of gas or hits a deer and you have to tow or ride home double or.......one gallon more could mean 18 miles LESS walking!

I don't know about it being a must that Etec's get great fuel mileage? I do know is this, Etec's do get great fuel mileage.
