Calumet County

Does nobody ride here? Spent the last 2 days racking up 180 miles of perfection. Trails on the west side of the Fox valley and west side of lake Winnebago don’t hold a candle to this. Can’t believe they’re closing these trails in the morning IMG_9830.jpeg IMG_4723.jpeg IMG_4722.jpeg IMG_4728.jpeg IMG_4724.jpeg IMG_4731.jpeg

Never rode east of the Wolf River.

Better put the sled away & get boat ready.
You aren’t missing much immediately east of the river… Fremont New London/northport and Hortonville areas get hammered with traffic and mostly running all chisel plowed fields

I was trying to talk my wife into going east of Winnebago but we did not know a good place to stay for a night. I knew it would be good looking at the reports on Ride Command. We rode Portage and a bit of waushara county yesterday. Portage Cty would have 5 mile stretches that were flat and fast highways like your pics and then you would run into stretches that looked like a motocross track, It was weird.

There’s a decent Cobblestone Inn & Suites in Brillion across the street from the trail, could easily stay there next time. I was tempted to head more east and maybe up into door county area but after riding these trails Friday, I had to go back and do the same thing again because they were in such great shape. We did swing up to Wrightstown & Greenleaf yesterday, it was still 10x better than by my house, but not as nice as south of there. I parked at the road trip bar next to WIR on the southeast side of Kaukauna. Here’s a highlighted map of my Friday ride, slightly deviated from it yesterday but hit most of the same trails. We did try running into and around Chilton yesterday just to see what it was like and ended up turning around as the sun started doing its thing… crazy because the trails near Gravity Park on the north side of town were 10/10

Looks like a good ride. I probably should have followed my intuition and went that way, win some lose some. We did 100 miles yesterday that I would do again so it worked out. You are right though the sun was really working the snow yesterday afternoon even with the cold wind. I almost like fast field riding more than up north woods riding. Sure does suck the gas though!

Yep field riding is lots of fun when conditions are good. Lots of tree lines to run on marked trail in Walworth county too. Then you have the kettle trails to nothing tighter than them so tight groomer can’t get thru.
