    55 degrees F is typical ground temperature from below. The frost is melting from below in conditions like this. We need sub zero to keep it pushed down.

    Yep, the ground is frozen deep, maybe 24” - 36”, we’ll let our construction folks answer that. Below the frost line (24” - 36”), it’s 55 degrees F. Which means it’s thawing from above and below when outdoor air temperatures are above 32 degrees F.

    Update; the maiden ride found a water hole. The sled went in on its side and both riders flew. No injuries. Fellow sliders help them right the machine (pictured), then pull it to clean snow. Our son and daughter in law were soaked and muddy, but home safe.

    We did New Years In Houghton, trucked up to Copper Harbor and could not find enough snow to unload. Twin Lakes area seemed ok, but not groomed and needs cold and snow. This new event should be the ticket.
