    North shore cabins suggestions

Funny you mention the long ride to get to the state trail. That was a frustration for us as well. The last night, we got back late and were riding the ditches in the dark to get back. My kid rolled his little 340. Not really rolled it, but came down a ditch too fast and one ski hit a small...

Anybody gearing up for the opener?

Great story. Reminds me of the time me and my buddies decided to head up for a skiing trip (before any of us knew what sleds were) at 1am in a SEVERE ice & fog storm. Similar to you, we had planned to leave in the morning but couldn't sleep so we packed up an loaded up. There were so many...

    Black Friday gear sales?

Snowbigdeal.com typically has some decent deals. Back in the day, First Place Parts had some un-real deals, but have gone to more standard % off for the most part.

    Speaking of past members

A couple that come to mind... Ezra, PolarisRider1 (or something like that) - He had the most posts of any member. It was a big deal when he was about to hit his 10,000th post. LOL! And of course Polaris Dan. I met and have ridden with two of the three. Miss seeing their comments on the site.

    One Arm Snowmobiling

Just throwing this out there... A guide out at Togwotee Mountain Lodge has the same situation and might be a good one to bounce ideas off of. Interestingly enough, they call him "Lefty." But yes, they do make finger throttles to put on the left side of the bars. Goldfinger Lefty Throttle is...

Trail 2 - Losing a section due to change of ownership

Google reviews are starting to pile up from the sled community and they are brutal. LOL!

Anybody get new tires and installation at walmart?

I'm also a fan of the Michelin tires. Have them on two vehicles in the family. Great all-season tires. There are some bad ones such as the Primacy's that come stock on some F150s. Those do suck. But aside from those, Michelin tires are excellent.

That is true. In town, no problem, but once you get out there not a lot of options. Def would not pass a station without topping off.

Anybody get new tires and installation at walmart?

I've heard some pretty bad stories about Walmart auto centers. Wouldn't recommend it. Discount Tire is an awesome tire company. They do nothing but tire and wheels, so work very hard to earn your business. They will match and often times beat any ad you bring them, even Amazon or Ebay prices.

    North shore cabins suggestions

We were there over Christmas break 2018 and riding was real good. They get the same "lake effect" snow as the UP. I was tipped off to the area by someone in this group --- Similar snow conditions, little if any traffic on the trails and less time in the truck vs. UP. We might be going back...

    North shore cabins suggestions

Superior Shores is decent. Directly on the trail system, yes. They have condo type units that are pretty large (link below). If you stay in the lodge units, make sure to connect with the main resort or you have to ride your sled 1/4 mile down the trail to get to your hotel. Much better...

    Who's Going???

The land outside and around Hay Days is all private property. I'd imagine they pay their mortgage for the entire year just from this event. They will be there working their property and will let you in to park overnight (again, off premise, just outside of the Hay Days gates). BUT... You...

    Who's Going???

Every year it amazes me of all the stuff I need. My wife is even more amazed that after all these years there is still stuff I "need." HA! This year will be different for me as my kid is getting to go for the very first time. It will make sleeping in the truck (to get a good spot by the gates)...

    Yellowstone Trip

Be aware that you can't take your sleds inside the park (unless they happen to be ones that qualify). Anything outside the National Park is fair game, but there are restrictions on what you can take inside the park + you have to win a lottery spot as they only allow 4 un-guided groups in per...

    West Yellowstone trip

VRBO or Air BNB as recommended for a larger group. The Yellowstone / Island Park area is pretty commercialized, so lodging typically is not a problem. Unless the snow is super good, typically you can find a cabin a couple of weeks in advance from what I've seen. Jan 2017, We stayed at a guys...

    West Yellowstone trip

Great pics. We rode the area 5-6 yrs ago. Other than the 24hr ride in the truck, the area was awesome. Lots of trails if you are into that and plenty of places to wonder off when you want too. Awesome memories you are making with your son. That's what it's all about IMO!!!!

How was your riding season ?

Our favorite place to ride (The Black Hills, SD) had the worst snow season on record. We should have adapted and chased the snow, but kept holding out for a big storm out there which never happened. One trip up to MN in blistering cold (-13) which the kid couldn't handle. LOL! Got out for one...
