    sturdy adjustable rod holder recommendation

The Walleye charters on the Big Traverse will run up to six downriggers on their Sportcraft’s in late summer but because it’s only a one man operation, that’s a judgment call on the part of the captain. Think they figure out pretty fast if the clients can be helpful or if it will be a real crap...

    It's Almost Mid-Summer, How's Fishing?

Agree! Local guy, who was famous for his fish batter, started selling it commercially. Awesome stuff!

    It's Almost Mid-Summer, How's Fishing?

As we approach mid-summer, I thought I’d see how you anglers out there are doing and maybe you have some photos of whatever your fish of choice might be. We’ve been getting out some. No monsters to report but still landing some decent fish. We went out for a couple of hours today, dead calm and...

Broke my ultra light pole bobber fishing

Hope it wasn't the "Green Hornet". Those Bass are like little bulldogs. I've never broken a pole (unless you count slamming one in the truck door) but a couple of years ago I lost my entire rig to a big hit I wasn't expecting. Still trying to live that one down.

    sturdy adjustable rod holder recommendation

Wow! That's some intense fishing! A lot of times I have trouble with one line so I can't offer you any advice:). We used to run some lead core on the Big Traverse of Lake of the Woods where you have long runs at fairly consistent depth but we rarely fish that part of the lake anymore so I sold...

    Polaris Mutt Mod

Yeah mezz, the track came on the chassis. I figured I'd have to buy a different one but when I got it off the sled, it looked usable. There was the matter of a lot of broken cleats but the belts were in decent shape. There are reproductions available but I think this one will work fine for...

    Polaris Mutt Mod

Wasn’t too happy with the first painting pass on the dash so I repainted it about a week ago. I was OK with the second attempt so I mounted it on the chassis, which allowed me to then mount the tank and the dash instruments/controls. I was going to paint the dash rivets but I think I like them...

    The Great Outdoors

Great shot Gary! So I assume you'll be renting "Suck My Wake" for a little spin around the lake.

    Lost a member

Really sorry to hear about Snowdance. You kind of get to know members through their posts and even though he had apparently gotten out of sledding, it was obvious that he still had a keen interest in it. I didn’t know him personally but he seemed like a good guy.

Trying to install the chaincase gears and chain a few days ago was proving to be a lot harder than it should have been. When I did finally get them mounted you could have played a tune on the chain, and that was without the tensioner installed. Something was not right The gears and chain came...

    Polaris Mutt Mod

I do, especially since it’s an event that is not all that common. Sometimes the unplanned can be a good thing though. I was browsing though the TX group posts a few nights back and there it was – an ad offering a 73 TX small block motor plate for sale, complete with bolts and bushings. Not only...

    Polaris Mutt Mod

Put in a little second effort tonight and got the running gear in place. Everything needs to be snugged up and the track tensioned but I’ll take it. Dropping the rear suspension mount points a couple of inches does give it a slightly different look than factory.

    Polaris Mutt Mod

Thanks Kirk! Yeah Mark, I think the 73 blue is one of my favorite Polaris colors. Really stands out against the snow on a bright, sunny day Even though the heat of summer has arrived, you all will have to trust me when I say I still am spending a little time on the project every week (when I’m...

Memorial Day Thanks to our Veterans

Agree! Being a small community, whenever I take a walk around the local cemetary I see markers for a lot of people I have known. It's amazing how many of them served in the military. Thanks Vets!

Hood came out better on second try. Not perfect, but better. This wraps up the big parts painting so now I can focus on getting some assembly done (as time permits of course).

    Polaris Mutt Mod

The plan was to paint the Mutt hood last weekend but things didn’t go quite as planned. On the first pass I noticed a couple of small areas where the paint wasn’t flowing properly (fisheye). I’m usually pretty careful but obviously there was some type of surface contamination. At this point...

    Walleyes for Tomorrow

This is pretty cool and it sounds like it's producing results. Nice work! It's interesting how lakes differ on the bite. When I used to fish Mille Lacs, it was pretty much the norm that the Walleye fishing was always better at night. Up here on Lake of the Woods, basically no one fishes...

    Sunsets

Good to know there's a lot of us out there that are sunset fans. Can't help but become calmer just looking at one. Figured I'd add a couple more.
