    Canada Fishing is Back

Hopefully your wait won't be as long as in the past. Seems like the CBSA has been pretty aggressive at hiring new agents since an agreement was finally reached on a labor contract. Maybe that will help. Looking forward to some photos of those big predators you guys seem to have a knack for...

    Canada Fishing is Back

As someone who crosses the border regularly, the COVID restrictions of the past seem almost like a bad dream. It really makes you appreciate having things back to normal – passport or passport card, you’re in. As far as alcohol infractions, I was told by an agent that if it has been at least 10...

Thanks guys, things should be at a point where more stuff gets put together than taken apart. I’ve been giving some thought about a logical order on how that happens. Still have to get the hood painted, maybe this weekend?

Well guys, she’s blue again. As is often the case, I see areas in the paint job that could be improved but I’m OK with the result. I do like this particular version of Polaris blue. It’s just my opinion, but just slapping on the skis provides some contrast to improve the overall look of the...

Nice day, felt like summer. A good day for a few developments to occur. The paint arrived as expected, so the only question was whether my 50-year-old Devilbiss gun still had some life left in it. Since I don’t have a system to spray the chassis all at once, I started with the bottom surfaces...

    Sunsets

Amazing shots! Definitely food for the soul. Taken during the Canada fires of 2017. Kind of erie, something I'll never forget.

I am not, and as wiscrev says, don’t call me Shirley. I’m still getting a fair number of small, not very interesting things done in the shop but I won’t deny that the pace has slowed a little. Tons of spring house/yard work to be done and I’ve been pulling quite a few extra shifts at the local...

If I didn’t know you better, I’d say you’re suggesting that things look a little suspicious. I could claim that I’m just a naturally tidy person but the real truth is that I don’t move fast enough anymore to create much dust.

Been spending most of my time doing final sanding/finishing/priming on the hood and chassis, which doesn't result in things looking much different than before. Guess the only thing worth a photo this time is what I hope will be almost be the last thing I have to make, that being the windshield...

    The Mosquito - It's Available

Thanks Indy for improving on my recollection. I thought it might have been sold recently but wasn’t sure. Shelie seemed like a pretty cool person. Too bad it didn’t work out for her. John, I could be wrong but it seems to me that I supervised the whole shoehorning the sled through the doorway...

    The Mosquito - It's Available

Hard to believe it has been almost 30 years since I first darkened their door. Although, like you said, at the time it was pretty dark in there already. Skylar would know the whole history but I believe that a few years back the owners at the time (Don and Donna) sold it to one of their...

    The Mosquito - It's Available

The Mosquito is such an iconic snowmobiling bar in the U.P. I hope someone will buy it and keep it operating. I’m sure it’s a tough business to be in but $270,000 wouldn’t even buy a tiny house in a metro area. If someone is looking for a change in scenery and lifestyle, this might be the...

We haven’t gotten anything in the last few days. We did get about 10” a week and a half ago but the warm weather last week wiped that out and most of the snow in general. It sounds like we may pick up 3-4” this week but then begin a slow warm-up. Let’s hope so, I guess I’m ready to see green grass.

These are both solid suggestions.... Yes, the hood will be white. To be honest, I didn’t think about the option of using the chassis blue but it could give the vents a more integrated appearance with the rest of the sled and not look like something I just slapped on as an afterthought. Now...

3 Old Guys Ride to Alaska

Pretty amazing achievement and story, even if they weren’t “old” guys. I was constantly impressed at the reception that they got from the communities along the way, many of which were extremely isolated. Not only were the locals helpful, but the group was often treated to traditional homemade...

Thanks wiscrev (aka ndrev), I’ll admit I’m guilty of getting a little down in the weeds with some of these updates but I’m hoping it helps explain my shop adventures. The original hood vent covers were a snap-in plastic affair and needless to say, most were either broken or lost. I’ve seen the...

An excellent plan (on paper), after all it’s over 5 weeks until the Ontario Walleye opener. The problem is execution. You know how spring projects just seem to appear. I still have my Christmas lights up. That’s a great question. I do have an area of the garage that might be big enough to...

Thanks Mezz, these projects are as much about patience and organization as anything else. Even a project that is not a show sled can and often does turn into a marathon so it’s important to recognize that right out of the gate. I sat down about 3 weeks ago and made a list of all the remaining...

It probably goes without saying that I’m not as far along as I thought I would be in terms of progress on the project but I guess all you can do is keep suiting up for the game. With the help of a friend and his 20 ton press we were able to get the skis reasonably straight (if frnash were still...
