    Who is open ?

Hey RPH, Yes, they have been for sale for a couple of years now. They are good people and Kent is a nice addition to their staff but he bought his own place in Tomahawk and is leaving in June. I don't see them closing and not ever opening again but you never know. I think it will be around...

    Feb 10, NW Vilas Update

Its 14 degrees at 10:40am this morning, Sunny, cold, just the way it should be. Trails should be great today. The next five days bring temps near 40 with sun everyday with a weather system arriving next Wed/Thursday. Hopefully it brings snow.

More Black Eyes on the Sport

Quite a thread here, I just read the entire thing. I believe the OP was bringing to everyones attention that here in the Northwoods the media is making a point to bring this to their viewers and readers attention and yes, it does give the sport a black eye. Remember, we are a small market, not...

Road closure around the LDF reservation

From what I hear it sounds like this could have been avoided. The title company has known about this for years and the Government (BIA) Bureau of Indian Affairs has not responded to any requests to step in and help to resolve. Like anything, get to the table and start talking, you might just...

Vilas NorthEast / Iron County MI west

Get going early like no later than 8am and stay in the woods on those trails, they should still be really nice through the weekend, what appens next week will tell if can get through the warmup. We also will need a nice blast of 8-12"new snow but who knows what will happen, If I was not living...

More Black Eyes on the Sport

Good post TSG, ATV/SXS is a huge topic here in four towns that have voted against them. In my opinion there are green people here but the real reason is that when they open up an area there really are no rules and that is what property owners up here are worried about. They don't want the crowd...

More Black Eyes on the Sport

A lot of those people that moved up here in NW were people that were sick of the cities and what is happening in them and in the Southern part of the state. They were also people that had second homes up here and could do so, most tend to be conservative up here anyway, not saying that it was...

Tim, you are correct, this is just more fuel for the anti-sled people and they are growing in numbers.

More Black Eyes on the Sport

It doesn't matter what bikers or auto drivers are doing, there is a big focus on Snowmobiling right now up here and it's all over the local news and local papers weekly. The sad thing is it is not good news that is being reported, it's things like trespassing, off trail riding, OWI's, accidents...

    Warm up this week?

Well folks, it was sunny and 46 here in MW today, I did drive into town and trails still look great away from town. 33 and cloudy on Tursday, 21 on Friday with lows in low teens. If you are coming up do your homework and ride away from the towns, get yourself away from the bars if you want good...

    February 8, NW Vilas

It was 17 degrees at 7am this morning, it's now 14 degrees at 7:45am, trails are very nice as we received an inch of fresh snow yesterday morning. Going to be 40 and sunny today so sun will do some damage around the towns for sure. The weekend looks fine with temps around 32 or less but then...

SE WI - Walworth - Waukesha - Racine - Kenosha - Jefferson Counties

Although I don't live in Southern WI anymore I agree with you on the lack of decision to open at certain times during the winter. In my years in the southern portion it always appeared that even though I would text or email in my opinion on our clubs trails (whether to open or not) that it took...

Yes, we need more members/younger members to do trail work in the clubs. I'm not big on anything else but doing trail work, without the guys that are out there doing it you don't have trails, period.

SE WI - Walworth - Waukesha - Racine - Kenosha - Jefferson Counties

Agree with you WD, Club dues are typically $25, some clubs run higher. When I lived in Waukesha County our club paid the $10 for it's members out of our club fund. Either way $35 plus a registration fee which everyone has to buy is cheap compared a lot of sports. As you stated, the 10% of the...
