About 3" total in Duluth (yesterday through this morning).

Duluth is still under a Winter Storm Warning, but snowfall amounts keep trending downward. Forecast was for 6-8" or so today, but we've maybe received 0.5" so far. Forecasted totals now 3-5" or so.

Maybe close to 3" up on top of the hill in Duluth.

About 3" in the Brule/Maple/Solon Springs, WI area. Closer to 4" near Pattison State Park, just south of Superior, WI.

Weak LaNina might mean a bit more precip in the upper midwest, yes? About two weeks ago, Lake Tahoe had their first August snow in about 20 years....not that it means anything!

as skiroule said, it's possible UFO damage. A similar case was reported in Bloomer, Wisconsin back in the 1970s or 1980s, as I recall. Please, be safe.

Thanks for the notice. As a kid, I used to go up on the garage roof (nw wisconsin) at night to watch the northern lights. Those are some great memories.

lovemydobe, that's a crazy photo! I live about 3 miles from that bridge! On Tuesday night, I was staying in a yurt on top of Mt. Ashwabay outside of Bayfield and I thought the wind was going to blow us off the mountain! I saw a big ore ship tucked behind Madeline Island in Chequamegon Bay...

dfattack, your comments about the birds reminded me of the stories about CBS pumping in fake bird sounds when airing the Masters on TV. Any idea if they do that???

I saw a group of four riding just outside of Duluth yesterday afternoon. Looked pretty nice. Also saw some sleds gassing up in Cloquet, MN.

Definitely have seen some sled tracks in the ditches around Duluth. Close to 20-24" in spots.

17" in the Gary neighborhood of West Duluth.

10.5" so far in West Duluth. Saw two sleds out this morning.

5.5" so far in West Duluth. They're saying maybe 12-16" up the north shore, perhaps.

Regarding having precipitation soak into the ground, the latest frost depth report from Duluth (reported yesterday) is 22". Does that mean you don't reach frost until you get 22" into the ground? Frost depth is 5" in Land O' Lakes, for comparison.
