Yes, it's crazy. I've been following the ice outs in Minnesota and a large majority of them are having record early ice outs.

It's been snowing all morning here in West Duluth, with maybe 3 to 3.5 inches so far. It's pretty much useless but it does make things look pretty.

13" just a few miles outside of Silver Bay, MN (along the north shore). Some forecasts are saying another 5-10" possible today/tonight from Silver Bay up to Grand Marais, MN.

Wow! The NWS office in Duluth is now saying Duluth area could get 2-5" from Friday afternoon through Sunday morning, with some favored spots along the north shore getting up to 6-7".

I remember a coworker that had a "Rainy Day" calendar on his office wall. He found a website that predicted the chance of rain for our city each day for a full calendar year! I never checked in with him, but I suspect it was just a tad inaccurate, lol.

That's a good one. Glad I quit drinking five years ago....it was not good for me! Now, if I could cut back on sweets.........

My favorite memory as a kid is visiting my relatives in Barron, WI for a few days around Christmas. They had those mini-boxes of sugary cereals (the kind we never had at home!) and I was in heaven!

I'm so sorry to hear this and I wish the best for his family. I'm not a snowmobiler but I always enjoy coming to this site to get the latest on the snow scene in WI and the UP. When talking with my family (none of whom are snowmobilers, either) about weather, we'd often reference the latest...

Amazing that it's been 48 years. I had the privilege of visiting Split Rock Lighthouse in MN on this day a few years ago. As I understand, it's the only day of the year where visitors can climb up the lighthouse tower to see the lit beacon. They also rang the bell 29 times for each sailor...
