    Tough Sledding at Ski Doo

Agree. I hit a buried rock on the side of the road on the way up to the snowies from centennial in February. Wasn't going very fast and I really don't know how it happened so fast but it knocked my sled over on top of me and I took the handlebars in the side of the leg and had pretty good...

    Tough Sledding at Ski Doo

this is a doo discussion but the 600 cats in our group, mine included, use little oil - seems like too little to me, but we haven't had issues. Of course my sled before that was a poo 600 with a carb and it was set way too rich. I figured at the time that oil was cheap enough so I didn't worry...

Hmmmm? BRP acquires Polaris Industries Inc.

Yamaha is buying BRP, that's why they got out. Sale closes today.

    Tough Sledding at Ski Doo

Like you mentioned I think a lot of people like the low oil usage of the 600 isoflex engine.

    Tough Sledding at Ski Doo

I'm in the same boat, except I'm not sure about the young part anymore. 800/850 I think is necessary at elevation but not needed in the flatlands, but 600s aren't enough with the taller modern sleds. I haven't ridden a poo 650 yet but the price seems excessive whenever I'd looked. I don't ride...

    Who's Been Out

That's pretty cool. How is it mounted? Looks like some kind of linq rack?

    Who's Been Out

Off topic - but what's the box you have on the back?

Thank you for the Journal Nora

Thanks for writing and sharing. You wrote this - it's something I have thought about quite a bit this winter: We tend to remember tidbits of information by events that are going on in our lives. I wonder if people will remember the winter of 23-24 as the winter John Dee left this earth and it...

    Clutch maintenance - worn parts

We drove by Mountain Meadows a couple times while out there. Thought about trying that out sometime. Hoping to get back to Ontario next season. Old Mother nature obviously wasn't cooperating this year. They had some spots with snow at times but not enough to be worth the trip for me at least.

    Clutch maintenance - worn parts

Funny you ask since I ended up getting the wrong ones, but didn't know it until we were up on the hill and installing them in the trailer. We kind of decided to go west at the last minute, and a bud I ride with has a similar sled and called a shop that did a reflash for him before to ask about...

    Retirement Scenario

Be curious what happens to some of the northwoods towns over the next 5 - 10 years. I know many have gone busier with more year-round residents following the covid changes. I'd guess long term many of these people would not want to stay up there year-round but I could be wrong.

    Clutch maintenance - worn parts

Appreciate it. I was thinking just changing springs (and weights and pins if it needs it), but if it needs more than that, then I'd probably let someone else handle it. I did end up with some adjustable weights that we used at the snowies. The range of those weights covers the flatland weight so...

    Clutch maintenance - worn parts

That's too bad you just chucked it! The only trip I went on this year was to the snowies, and I did put different weights in it for that. The pins came out easily enough. Are the roller bushings the part in the spider that the weight pins go into? I won't know much until I can get at my sled...

    Clutch maintenance - worn parts

I'll start looking into that. I saw my current team clutch is now replaced by the adapt clutch, and the price is fairly reasonable. If I see any issues I may look into that. Of course the pins and weights would be extra either way.

    Clutch maintenance - worn parts

Thanks for the picture. I haven't taken the seal off a bearing before. I would have thought it wouldn't go back in easily but apparently it does. I changed the skid bearings not too long ago and kept the one that were smooth. I could practice on one of those. I'm thinking I'll keep this sled...

    Clutch maintenance - worn parts

Thanks. I have the bearing to go on the driveshaft. Been meaning to do that for a couple years. Actually bought the bearing and the BOP repair kit suggested on ty4stroke, depending on what the shaft looks like. I haven't heard of many failings on the jackshaft but I'll look at adding grease to...

    Clutch maintenance - worn parts

Was going to pull the clutches on my 18 cat 600. Has 8K on it. Figured I'd clean them and at least change the springs. I haven't done any maintenance on them in the past. My last sled was an 06 Poo 600, and I dropped the clutches at Goodwin at a similar mileage and had them go through them, and...

    The Groomer Guy has retired!

First time we rode up there was the year before halfway haven reopened so we drove up to Wawa. Never got close to 0 (Fahrenheit). I remember starting my 600 Fusion up and the temp gauge for the engine showed -48 or something like that. Took a minute to get to operating temps. Have been hooked...
