    North shore cabins suggestions

We were there over Christmas break 2018 and riding was real good. They get the same "lake effect" snow as the UP. I was tipped off to the area by someone in this group --- Similar snow conditions, little if any traffic on the trails and less time in the truck vs. UP. We might be going back...

    North shore cabins suggestions

Superior Shores is decent. Directly on the trail system, yes. They have condo type units that are pretty large (link below). If you stay in the lodge units, make sure to connect with the main resort or you have to ride your sled 1/4 mile down the trail to get to your hotel. Much better...

    Who's Going???

The land outside and around Hay Days is all private property. I'd imagine they pay their mortgage for the entire year just from this event. They will be there working their property and will let you in to park overnight (again, off premise, just outside of the Hay Days gates). BUT... You...

    Who's Going???

Every year it amazes me of all the stuff I need. My wife is even more amazed that after all these years there is still stuff I "need." HA! This year will be different for me as my kid is getting to go for the very first time. It will make sleeping in the truck (to get a good spot by the gates)...

    Yellowstone Trip

Be aware that you can't take your sleds inside the park (unless they happen to be ones that qualify). Anything outside the National Park is fair game, but there are restrictions on what you can take inside the park + you have to win a lottery spot as they only allow 4 un-guided groups in per...

    West Yellowstone trip

VRBO or Air BNB as recommended for a larger group. The Yellowstone / Island Park area is pretty commercialized, so lodging typically is not a problem. Unless the snow is super good, typically you can find a cabin a couple of weeks in advance from what I've seen. Jan 2017, We stayed at a guys...

    West Yellowstone trip

Great pics. We rode the area 5-6 yrs ago. Other than the 24hr ride in the truck, the area was awesome. Lots of trails if you are into that and plenty of places to wonder off when you want too. Awesome memories you are making with your son. That's what it's all about IMO!!!!

How was your riding season ?

Our favorite place to ride (The Black Hills, SD) had the worst snow season on record. We should have adapted and chased the snow, but kept holding out for a big storm out there which never happened. One trip up to MN in blistering cold (-13) which the kid couldn't handle. LOL! Got out for one...

    gear

Don't sleep on Fly. Reasonably priced and solid gear. If you attend Hay Days, you can get some AWESOME "last season" deals if you go to the right booths.

Is there an app for John Dee?

Not an app (that I'm aware of), but there is a Facebook page > John Dee's Snow Central.

stay on your side of the trail

I do the same. Stop or crawling at best every time a group comes by. Corners I'll hug our side of the trail to the point I might go right off the side. LOL! My son thinks I'm crazy, but I'll take it over an accident. I've also trained him to start standing on the OUTSIDE running board. He...

stay on your side of the trail

This is all over FB. Guy on wrong side of trail (Doo) was on a rental (big surprise). AC group had just stopped before this and were going to switch lead sled, but one was running poorly so they didn't. His old man would have taken this hit had they done that. AC rider said he went off on...

    Trailer repair????

Thanks for the update. I have a couple of misc. parts still needed to wrap up my trailer. Wasn't having much luck with my local Triton dealer. I might give them a call to see if they could ship out what I need. Good luck with the repairs, but sounds like you are in good hands.

    Trailer repair????

Couldn't agree more. The TC167 is the absolute best 2-place configuration trailer available in my opinion. They are awesome. Light, low profile and not super long or wide. As long as your sleds have reverse, why do you need a drive out v-nose making your trailer 3-4ft longer? Not to mention...

    Trailer repair????

Just to give you an idea... Last Summer my insurance (Progressive) quoted $7700 for total loss on my 2018 TC167. That's $2700 more than I paid for the trailer (used, like new). Feel like I robbed the guy based on what these things are going for now days.

    Trailer repair????

Adhesive is no joke, that’s for sure! And I’ll give it to Triton, they hit every. Single. Contact. Point. Didn’t miss a one!!!! But honestly not that bad to remove with a heat gun + putty knife. Had all 5 panels off in a hour. I was impressed enough with the adhesive that I paid out the butt...

    Trailer repair????

Regarding Triton helping with parts, etc. I contacted them directly several times. They will not sell you anything, but refer you to their certified dealers. They can also provide part#s on most parts. Regardless of what you do, you'll want the manual (attached) that has ALL of the part...

    Trailer repair????

Re-skinned my TC167 this past Fall due to hail storm. Love the trailer sooooo much, there was no way I was letting insurance total it out!!! New they are $10k+ now days!!!!! Only the side walls had significant damage. The panels I found on e-bay were a perfect match (.030 thickness, color and...

    New trucks

Seems a good deal in this new world is getting MSRP w/o markup. I'd never even step foot in a dealership that is doing market adjustments over MSRP. That is just shady as shit and taking advantage of the situation IMO. Just bought a new Explorer for the wife in November. Zero negotiating on...
